Doing Grade 5 theory is definately not a bad thing. If you do up to grade 5 theory you'll have all the necessary stuff you'll need. From simple melody writting without aid of an instrument to key...

Just join a band. If you cant keep up by doing loong 'bursts' of straight 16ths or 32nd notes on the feet and hands. Then just don't. Mix it up a little. Try patterns with 8ths and 16ths or something...

I'm not going to anymore. ever. Because I kind of know him from school I knew he hits hard, but he promised me before the gig he'll look out with hitting hard. So I trusted that he'd keep his word......

Just wanted to point out that key signature nor time signature are the right words to explain it. I think you mean "groups of ..."

Dm is a key signature
2/4 is a time...
