Re: Bd size options / experience

I concur. I know its mostly about sound, BUT to me, anything smaller than a 20 just looks..too small (IN MY OPINION).

YMMV..etc..

Re: What is the cleverest instruction given to you by a music director?

Totally agree. Doesn't matter if its an official name or not. Usually I hear it in a video where time is sort of critical, and by sayin TOM twice, just wastes that precious little time. I don't...

Re: Drummer’s Place In Band

Absolutely.
I know some drummers here used to be(are currently) bass players as well. You wanna talk about low man on the totem pole?

ESPECIALLY as far as the audience is concerned. Tell me if...

Re: If you could decide for your favorite manfacturer's standard sizes?

Agreed. I'm surprised you're saying it out loud (the 10" tom bit).

Re: New Drums from Mapex

When I 1st saw Cutaway's huge pic, I thought this (then I photoshopped it after I stopped giggling):

No offense, to be clear I like mapex. But this is funny to me.
YMMV.

Re: Lars Ulrich using DW Hardware

I have no opinion on Lars's drop clutch, but just looking at that posture makes my back hurt.
( I'm not raggin on him, always been a fan of his since the 80's, well, was a fan IN the 80's).

Re: Forum Utilization Down

I agree.

I also frequent (tho admittedly not nearly as much as I used to) Vmax.Net [Forum for the legendary YAMAHA V-Max 145HP 4 cyl. Musclebike, as I own one, hence my screen name]. I...

Re: Forum Utilization Down

This is EXACTLY my story, if you replace 70s and 80s to 80s and 90s.

Also frequent talkbass (but not as much anymore).

Also back to drums in 2016.

On TB I used to end with: :T$ now I just...

Re: New Drums from Mapex

I was thinkin it's waay too ugly AND impractical to mass produce (even if they wanted too). It could be some kind of custom built, super adjustable tom arms Just for their "test Drum kits" as it...

Re: Is made in the US really that much better?

I think ya hit the nail on the head here already. It's mainly just the way it used to be, and people don't want to let that go. Yea, "Made in the USA" is much more rare than it used to be, so maybe...

Re: In case anyone hasn't seen this yet... Bermuda and Dom

Cool interview. I remember back in 80-81 maybe listening to Dr. D on sunday nights. I also used to record the show, as it was on late (on east coast) and I was sposda be sleeping, being a school...

Re: Advice re selling...

Agree with most posts saying break it up. People don't want to be forced to buy everything (unless its a beginner, but a beginner will usually not have the $$ to buy it all at once).

Maybe the...

Re: Considering my “retirement” kit

Oh nice. Hard to tell from the pic, but is that a Dodge pickup?..

;)

I kid, I kid. For a minute, I wasn't sure if it was an F150 or not.. :)

I say got for the DW.

Re: Tama Star Drums - Bubinga, Maple and Walnut In-depth Review

Awesome video indeed.

Tuning sounds perfect as well.

Speaking of tuning, Would you be so kind as to divulge what methods you use for tuning? Top heads tighter than bottom? any devices used?...

Re: Negotiating

Maybe the 'other kit' IS his kit?..(hopefully not) and upped the price for you?

Just seems odd that bothe kits have no snare, mainly because they come with a snare when new.

Maybe just my mind...

Re: Help finding a certain drummer

The cowbell groove was pretty cool sounding actually, but I'm not hearing the effect of "muting" (or what have you) on the FT. Maybe my speakers. Was it just too ringy, and he wanted to contain it?...

Never seen that before. Kinda feels like Chris Farley doing a Joe Cocker impression...(moves wise, not vocally anyway)
