I think we are almost saying the same thing. I still believe it is better to start out slow, get your technique, feel and muscle memory built up and then speed up. If you start practicing something...

Try practicing a bit slower. I mean like really S L O W. Exaggerate your movements big time. Don't try and speed up. Eventually, you'll start to develop muscle memory and the feel. If you practice...

It's just to get the feel of doing two different things with both limbs to build muscle memory. Once you get the feel of it, it's really no big deal. Also, keepitgreen made a great suggestion....

Something I practiced many years ago to cut the "string" between my right hand and right foot was this...


I would play 1/4 notes on the hihats and 1/8th notes on the bass drum, but I would lift...

I have names for my drums! As a matter of fact, three of them are named Tom!! There's rack Tom 1, his brother, rack Tom2, and their other brother... floor Tom.

I was talking about a piece of computer malware the other day called a Rootkit. I now call my drums that when I change my configuration around by taking one of my rack toms off.
