Re: Ethics..?

I don't think asking for money after the fact is appropriate. It was an opportunity for you to gain some exposure and you succeeded in that. And that should have been your focus anyway, the...

Re: Effects of Cracking Knuckles

Been drumming and "cracking" for 34 years. And every once in awhile I check to see what the latest research says. It's usually not much. It's never affected anything I do. I wouldn't be too...

NAMM Question

In the NAMM pictorial, on the Ludwig page, there is a picture of a green vistalite set. On the BD head, it says "New - Limited Editon Green Acrylic Shells". I went to the Ludwig website and there's...

Re: Would John Bonham be here?

A couple of things here. First of all, drumming in general has come a long way in the 28 years since Bonham's death. Never has there been the resources that drummers have today. 10-year-olds can...

Re: 28 Years Gone-We Still Miss You Bonzo

Just realized the same thing a few minutes ago. I too was going to post in honor of the great one. I didn't realize they were in the studio working on something. That'll be special. RIP, Bonzo.

Re: travis barker playing country

I don't think the theatrics fit very well, but what could we expect? Very basic stuff as opposed to "diverse".

Re: Cool tom tuning techniques!!

ccdrums21, any thoughts on the relationship between snare and toms? You mention that you don't encounter alot of snare buzz by tuning your toms this way, but doesn't the snare have to be tuned a...

Re: John Bonham

One other thing that doesn't ever seem to get taken into account on these threads: Bonham died at age 32. That's it. His whole career was defined by that age. You can't compare what Elvin Jones...

Re: Virgil Donati is the Buddy Rich of our time ("IMO"...I suppose)

Good point. The problem is that most people and even alot of drummers don't know who Donati is. You have to make the kind of impact on the masses that Rich did to make a comparison like this. ...

My only problem with traditional grip for drumset is that it looks so unnatural going around the set. Like when Weckl or Gadd are soloing, when they get to the right side of the kit, it looks like...

Re: John Bonham (Bonzo)

This is hilarious!!! I remember in the 70's, they had to book 6 nights at the old Chicago Stadium, they sucked so bad. No other band has ever booked that many nights in a major venue in Chicago. ...

Re: Ian Paice

Probably my third favorite rock drummer behind Bonham and Peart. And i agree that he doesn't get quite the credit that some of these others get. I saw him 20 years ago live, and he was amazing.

Re: Music tracks minus drums...

Oops! It doesn't look like either of those programs convert from MP3 to Wav. Only the other way around. Anyway, I did find a free MP3-WAV converter on PCWorld.com, if anyone else is interested.

Re: Music tracks minus drums...

On a related note, if I put some of these on a CD to play along with, will they work on a standard stereo or boombox, being that they are MP3 files? Or, if not, can they be converted to a standard...

Re: why do i lean back w/ double bass?

Another thought: Are you sitting on the front edge of your throne, or are you comfortably in the middle? I sometimes tend to sit up too far and that's where I find myself losing balance and having...

Hmmm...interesting chart Nutha. I am a bit confused though. Alot of those sounds don't seem to measure up to what's real. For example, I don't see how it's possible that brush playing is as loud...

Re: Travis Barker

I'm with Stu_Strib on this one. When I look at his video clips, I'm actually very disappointed. But we all have to understand something. Just because you've reached celebrity status doesn't...
