Re: Anyone have this new Gretsch snare yet?

I've never heard a bad brass snare but it's not much to look at. The sensitone doesn't cost a whole lot more, I'd look at that too.

Re: Standard DW9000 and heel-toe

Are you talking about the slide technique for single pedal? Or do you mean the technique metal drummers use for constant double kick?

Unless you're a soft jazz player I would learn to play heel up...

Re: Left hand: uneven strikes & poor grip. Advice needed

From everything I'm hearing lately it's better to use more wrist than fingers. You should use wrists as much as possible until you get to a speed where you're forced to use fingers, that's the way I...

Re: Just in case you forgot

Look at me, I have a drum kit. Praise, envy and comment on my drum kit.

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

Hey, perhaps it snot so profound if you need to use a different instrument as an example but what about lacquers?

My unpopular opinion - I've grown tired of some characters here. It's probably...

Re: Ludwig Brass Supra

No need to pay the Bonham tax, everyone offers a nice brass snare, see what else is out there.

Re: Chris Coleman! :D

I got to spend a day with Chris in Ohio this July just passed. He is a great drummer but also a very interesting "larger than life" character. Wherever he goes he seems to be the center of attention,...

Re: comparing two new sets, Ludwig or DW?

+1

Out of those 2 brands I would have to choose the mapex.

Re: Mapex Saturn vs Premier Genista

I've only played an rc once but I liked it very much. It had detuned pinstripes so it was quite low and thuddy. Saturns should probably ring out more, even at that tuning.

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

This is sexist and racist to Chinese everywhere. Especially those in China.

What about mapex's revolutionary bearing edges that they invented?

Unpopular opinion: someone in the supply chain to...

I've been watching you, Wildbill. You're not wild at all. You're more of a stage custom historian.

Re: The New Breed of "Metal Drummers"

The most direct way to go about it is to learn their parts. They're not all from the same discipline, didn't necessarily study the same things and some of them e.g Matt are playing parts based on or...

Re: Sonor-king of the micro kits?

I'm with Andy.

These budget kits look cool, are easy to transport, are cheap to buy etc but they won't get the tone or the projection you might be after. I think my stage custom was a good buy but...

I might be the only one who cares but I just wanted to report that it's been 4 or 5 days and this drum key trick is working. If it wasn't such a temporary thing I'd have something low and flat made...

Re: Comparing oneself to others (drummers)

It's natural and it's necessary to compare yourself to other drummers but I don't think many drummers are as bad as I used to think (so long as they can keep time). I can listen to just about any...
