Re: The longest wait?

Buying them new is cheaper than buying them used. I think they are only a few thousand to have built, but I have yet to see a used one go for less than $10k. There's one for sale right now...

Re: Solo gigs

I think in order to pull this sort of thing off outside of being a clinician, you would have to do something like what Josh Dion does.

The idea of...

Re: Thoughts On Short Stack Floor Toms?

Re: The longest wait?

You should research how long it takes to get a Henderson acoustic guitar.

10+ year lead time.

At this point, I don't think he's going to be able to get them all done.

Re: Top 10 drummers you've seen in the flesh?

I've seen some good bands, but I've never seen any of the famous heavy hitters.

Re: Do you keep your cardboard boxes?

If you buy and sell a lot, OR you are planning on selling a set soon, get rid of them if you don't have the room.

Re: No Talent Hack, But Loving It....

I can improve more in 30 minutes playing with other people than I can 2-3 hours practicing on my own or with MP3s/CDs. Find other people to jam with after you learn a few basics.

Re: Seller's remorse

If you are worried about the room, they actually don't take up a lot of room if you store them stacked in the corner. Heck, they even take up less room if you "nest" them.

If you are going to...

I'm sure that kit will make someone really happy.

Re: So, This ever happen to you?

I have my drums set up at church just the way I like them (and my church uses MY drums). One of the drummers adjusts the seat (he and I play every other week). Another drummer (who plays maybe once...

Re: How long have you been in your working band?

I think I just started year 3 with current band. We don't play out nearly as much as we should.

I've been playing at my current church for a little over 8 years.

I just got a call last week...

Re: Difficulty with certain tempos

Yes, I mean the pattern...not the fill. :)

It's funny because I can play it slower AND faster than this particular speed, but for some reason, I've always struggled with THIS particular pattern...

Re: Difficulty with certain tempos

There's this really weird quirky thing I deal with a lot:

There's a song we have to play at church that need a little quick double-kick pickup.

The part is actually right at :30 into this...

Re: Best badges in the business

Those are sort of funny with me. I don't know if I like it just because I like it, or do I like it because I hated the other logo (or lack thereof) so much.

To me there's no comparison between...

Re: Working at a music store

Man, I would have KILLED to work in a music store when I was younger.

Jobs I had to do as a kid:

Throw hay
String and break beans
Shuck and silk corn
Dig potatoes
Chase cattle back...

Sakae badges look like Ludwig Accent badges.

Horrible badges on unbelievable drums.

Re: Drinking beer at a gig

I don't drink before or during a gig. I'll have a beer or two whenever I get home to help me wind down. Heck, even after music practices at church, I'll have a couple when I get home to settle my...

Re: Logo heads

The hot tin can method works really well.

I've never done my under tension, but what I did was put a thing cardboard box under the head (like a drum head box) so i wouldn't damage whatever was...
