Re: Electronic Drums to Acoustic

It's not wild. It's done all the time.

The only E to A difference I experience is volume. I can hit the E kit hard and turn the volume down. I forget how piercingly loud a real snare drum is :)....

Re: Drum removal from original tracks?

You can do it if you have access the master tracks.

The games Rock Band and Guitar Hero used licensed original music for their games and they split some of the tracks in order to make their game...

Re: How do you cue your live tempos at the gig?

Were you born with some magical ability or did you learn and develop this skill?

If, in the olden days. you learned to play with some kind of electronic time keeping device, don't you think the...

Re: Roland SPD-SX / multi uses?

Just look at the (menu) pad settings, specifically the mute groups.

When you strike a pad, footswitch or remote trigger, it may or may not affect the playback of other pads, switches, triggers,...

Re: Roland SPD-SX / multi uses?

You can use four remote pads and two foot switches to trigger whatever you have on the SX.

I play drums and didn't need any of the percussion sounds. I deleted all of them to make room for backing...

Re: Acoustic Drums VS Electronic Drum Kits

A simple A to E drum conversion Google search will get you started.

I don't think links are allowed here but there is a bunch of stuff posted at Vdrums.com

My choice has been Quartz...

Re: Acoustic Drums VS Electronic Drum Kits

I find the transition easy. Generally, you just have to ease up a bit.

Maybe it's because I have a very mechanical nature but, it is SO simple. Take off the head, install the hardware, put on...

Re: Acoustic Drums VS Electronic Drum Kits

There is a lot you can learn on a practice pad, just like there is a lot you can learn on an E kit that will transfer to an A kit.

The biggest benefit is the countless hours you can spend playing...

Re: Hating your playing, sometimes or always.

Step 1. Figure out why.

Until you do that, we can only speculate.

I play very very basic drums and I generally love the way it sounds whether recorded or live because I'm listening to the...

Re: Are R16 Instructions for Rocket Scientists?

It's been a couple years since I recorded directly into my R16. I don't remember any details but I remember the cards getting filled up fast

If you have a Mac, use the R16 as an interface and use...

Re: Blasphemy! - Pic Heavy

That's funny. Blasphemy was my exact word when someone first suggested E drums. Now I'm a convert.

I converted my A kit about a year ago

Re: How stupid is this?

Stupid? Hardly.

I had an old throne that would slowly screw itself lower. After a few months, I'd notice that I was inadvertently hitting the snare rims a lot and then realize I was shrinking. I...

Ya gots to go with the flow. I don't even own brushes but I would figure out something. Maybe that thing where you hold the butt of your stick on the head and click the other end on...

Re: I'm going to see Billy Cobham live!

I saw him in the early 70's in a really great venue (2500 seats with a revolving stage in the center). He was the coolest drummer I'd ever seen. There was so much sound coming from the kit and he...

Re: Bands and tempo arguments

The original is 167ish and it's real easy to speed that one up, especially if you are playing the very basic drum parts as originally recorded.

I put the synth on backing tracks so we need to...

Re: Who has to play to a click or backing track live?

The woodshed metronome and the full band click is the same thing. The woodshed just involves the drummer and the band setting involves everyone. It's a training tool, not a safety net. The more you...

Re: Who has to play to a click or backing track live?

Don't hate the playa :)

And, it has nothing to do with scrotums.

The fact is, you have no idea what your timing is like until you check it with a click. Give it a go and report back.

Re: Who has to play to a click or backing track live?

In my head, the song is ours. Music is a team sport and time is time.

And, I doubt than anyone can tell if a band was playing flawlessly in time. I don't hear tempo variations in older music until...
