Looks like a pretty affordable, reasonable option for a large wooden drum. What say ye?

Re: Just This Moment I Have Purchased A Black Beauty

I own two: a 6.5 and a 5. The 6.5 is a very nice, versatile drum. Incredibly warm and responsive at all volumes. The 5 is a beast. I'm head over heels for its tone and power.

Re: When soundmen attack

About a month ago I was talking to a friend who is a well respected soundperson and has done his fair share of touring doing FOH for some relevant local figures. I was telling him about how I was...

Re: When soundmen attack

In my experience, you would need a two-stage rocket to reach the part of the atmosphere where most soundpersons' ego resides. Every chance I get to work with a cool-headed, easy going soundperson, I...

Re: Ludwig Bronze Piccolo - A good buy?

K,

I have two BB's: 5"x14" & 6.5"x14"

Although I can discern a similar tone, that 1.5" of difference between them makes them into two very different animals (IMHO). I experience a similar...

Ludwig Bronze Piccolo - A good buy?

Looking for way to expand my Ludwig collection, I've been eying the metal piccolo drums. I currently have a Pork Pie Squealer 5"x12" that is a fairly effective power piccolo, but it kind of chokes on...

Re: Tama Power Metal snares...opinions?

A friend is selling this for under $300. Shipping might jack it up right up to, me thinks.

Me personally, I like the older stell Tamas. These guys I never really cared much for...

Re: Pork Pie Little Squealer Maple, anyone got it?

I just got a hold of one and it has tons of crack and volume. It does become shallow rather quick if you tune too high. I've been weighing my head options to see where should I go with it.

Re: Intermediate drum set advice

Church.

That will get you through most any live playing situation. In the local underground scene we used to have backlines. No one changed kits. Usually, there were just too many bands on the...

Re: Tastefully Overplayed

I'll start by saying Neil is my favorite drummer, period. "Overplaying" is a term I've heard used to describe Neil's playing on several occasions. Although I find it hard to agree, I just threw...

Re: My First Ludwig Acrolite

Indeed. The older, gray Acro sounds drier, sharper and QUITE louder (at least to my ears). Over the years, every time I re-purchased a "blacro", although the sound was pretty much the same, I just...
