Re: How do you feel the day after a gig?

I have chronic rheumatoid arthritis so I usually feel like I've been run over by a truck the day after...

I still do it because I love it, and we don't play that often so I have time to recover in...

Re: Do you ever stand back from your drums...

If that kit was a horse, they'd put it out of it's misery...

Re: The "I wish I hadn't opened my big mouth" thread ;)

Time to break out the windchimes and cowbell! You'll be fine, remember, anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but, oh man, I'm so glad it's not me!

Re: Here's an idea

I understand where you're coming from Bo, but if you had shut me in a room with a pad for any length of time, you would have turned me off. For me the pad and the teaching came later. I just wanted...

Re: Need a bit of help.

I looked on my iPhone 5 running ios 7.1.1. It looks great, so much better than the majority of web sites that I have looked at on my iPhone. It all works very well, no gripes and since I'm coming to...

Re: I feel like I'm in a bit of a pickle.

You think that's bad? I've turned up to gig where the kit was supplied and it wasn't as good as this....

Re: Anyone ever wonder if it's all worth it?

No, never. Drumming is like sex, you don't need to be that good at it to enjoy it.... ;0)

Re: 1 up, 2 down question

+1

I have a full set of toms for my Mapex Saturn from 8" to 16" including a 14" floor. The only reason I can think of for going to 2 floors is looks. Ergonomically it doesn't work for me, it just...

Re: Help I bought a cracked cymbal off ebay

No, they offered to pay the postage out of the blue- all I did was open a dispute, but by that time the seller had offered to cover it, which he did. but then, he seemed to be an honourable man who...

Re: Why ya' gotta be so dark?

I have owned 3 pro level ride cymbals in my drumming life, all at the bright and pingy level- a 20" Earth Ride (no longer with me and I really wish that is was) a 20" K Custom and a 22" Z3 Medium...

Re: Just curious -----------

If I'm honest, I'm not convinced my snare technique is anywhere near up to it.

I am to rudiments what Giant Haystacks was to ballet!

Re: Help I bought a cracked cymbal off ebay

From my recent experience of a similar issue, Ebay will pay the return postage, although my seller paid in the end.

Re: Playing sick (the show must go on)

I've played with the flu before, but I play in constant pain these days due to arthritis. Actually, the playing is the easy bit, its the setting up and humping gear that is really taxing. But if I...

Re: Are 13" toms obsolete?

My new favourite config is 10/13/16/22. That extra inch really makes a difference... :<o

Re: Please tell me what Premier drum kit this is.

The later version of this kit was known as the elite, the shell construction and hardware was the same- it differed by having the oval post twin tom tom holder, but is otherwise the same. A great set...

Re: Whats the weirdest thing you ever broke on your kit during a gig?

The flexor tendon in my right thumb! It went while I was setting up, tightening a cymbal stand joint as I remember.

Still finished the gig though- what a trooper! Got a bit of a slap from the...

Re: Premier 1026? Snare

Definitely steel, the standard snare that came with the APK- an excellent and underrated drum.

Re: This commodity of music

I think the other company was Stacatto?
I remember the 11" tama toms- artstar and granstar at the time I think, but I'm not sure there was a 9- but I could be wrong. A bit like the DW 23" bass drum?

Re: This commodity of music

After a kit is recorded and processed, I would defy anyone to tell what it was made of, who played it and what heads it had on it. The days where you could spot a player's playing on the radio before...

Re: Tilting the snare

I play matched grip and the snare is angles towards me a little. It means that when i mean to play a rimshot, I play a rimshot. I tried my snare flat before but found it hard on my wrists and too...

Given Phil's track record with the ladys, That just might be his dream, not Mary's....

Re: How does Ludwig Keep Prices down?

Taking Andy's lead and looking at a broader perspective, I think drums these days in general are incredible value. I can remember back in the early 80's looking at an entry level shop own brand 5...

Re: Drums - the stage prop du jour (Grammies content)

I haven't seen any of the footage yet_it was during the night in the UK, but "Cut me some slack" winning a Grammy? Really? I love the Foos, I love Paul McCartney and Nirvana did it for me too, but...
