Re: Yamaha or Pearl?

Hi Jamie.

Don't sweat it mate. We all get it.

What concerns me is that you may innocently place yourself in a position where the more serious guys avoid you, thinking some kid dreaming over...

Just to save everybody time. There exists virtually the same thread. And the answer is the same as your cymbal thread.

Go to the store.

There are serious professionals posting at DW....

Re: Open handed technique

I am astounded by this thread. On one hand we have people who say "I think I'll try something different!". And on the other are people who say "It is not about being different. We all must conform."...

Re: Open handed technique

I chose to learn open handed to improve my left hand. I have no idea to what Todd refers.

Jim is more correct IMO. As is Mike. This argument is a non starter. There's no such thing as the...

Re: Drumming and pain

I have had chronic pain since 1996. I just have to put up with it. I do not have an answer. I always play relaxed. This helps.

Sorry I have no way out of this.

Re: Gretsch Brooklyn COB or Pearl SE?

I recommend getting several snares made from different materials. As stated, it is probably not worth the trouble swapping out one brass snare for another so similar.
I just typed 'snare drum' into...

Re: Problems with space and time

Try isolating limbs. I read that you have trouble playing 16's on the BD while playing whole notes on he hi hat. So begin small.

Begin with 1/4 notes on the hat. You can then play the 1 e on the...

Re: Tama Starclassics!

One of my life's great regrets, in a life of regrets, is that I sold my Japanese made Starclassic maple.

Forget the BB. Buy a Starclassic maple made in Japan.
