Re: BeBop Kit Help

I vote 18" cause while the 20" seems super sweet the 18" actually has bigger drums.. but they're by no way huge. I wanted on of these.. cool wraps too. I bet it'll sound like a silverstar bop :)

Re: Help me identify the wood species

I'm thinking about staining my vision vb set. there are some good tutorials out there. maybe I should practice on some scrap wood before I do the drums. can I do it without an electric sander?

Re: Pearl Roadshow Jazz Kit

sweet. can you do a short video demonstration? I think something like this would be great for me since I only play about 20 minutes a day and don't really gig.

Re: My New Pork Pie Hip Pig Kit

love the sizes and finish. let's hear how they sound. also I suggest getting a drum rug because I didn't at first and I have some grease spots on my basement rug.

Re: Some Pearl Vision Porn ;)

I've played those pitch black cymbals before and man were they dull. they might have been black alphas.. either way they sounded bad.

that's expensive for a kick drum. you can buy all 5 of my...

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

I'm selling my gear that's 6 months old. the drums still have their original heads and everything is in great condition. I would really like to sell the drums and all the hardware asap for $550. I...

Re: Some Pearl Vision Porn ;)

I don't think they're pinstripes. you can see the heads in my photos. is there a way to tell if they're single or double ply by examining bottom of them or something?

I've always wondered what a...

Re: Some Pearl Vision Porn ;)

my vision vb drums sound great. very easy to tune from no tension and the note they produce is fat, deep, and very clean. all I have to do on the toms is 1 full turn up from finger tight and all the...

Re: snare lugs

hmm.. so single point lugs can be an issue, especially on a snare which we tune pretty high.

I've never owned a drum with tube lugs so I can't say I'm tired of them :p

my pearl vision vb drums...

Re: How do you count while playing drums?

sometimes I hum, but it's not a melody or a tune.. it's more of a monotone drawn out hum like "hhmmmmm".

I find it hard to count while playing and even harder to sing while playing (believe it or...

Re: Drum Tuning Like This

as a rule of thumb my snare and kick heads (batter and resonate) get two half turns up from finger tight then I go from there.

Re: PDP X7 drumset

I like clear single ply heads on poplar drums. coated single ply heads also sound good. poplar has a surprisingly nice tone but it's not as tight or controlled as some other woods. I bet that finish...
