Re: Worst song ever

Ok, I get the hint: You have to love and worship The Beatles on DrummerWorld.com. Typing anything in response would be like playing chess with a pigeon, so I'm done here.

Re: Worst song ever

WhoIsTony?, tamadrm - I know I'm not going to change any fan boy minds on The Beatles. Their music never did anything for me, which is fine, and then I did "open a book" (actually several) and learn...

Re: Worst song ever

Worst song I've heard on the radio... That's a tough one. We Built This City is probably one of the most irritating songs, if not THE most irritating. I heard a lot of crap on the radio while...

Re: Aluminum Die Cast Hoops

Premier made aluminum die cast hoops, but I'm not sure if they had 10-lug ones or not.

Re: Any drum builders or customisers?

I thought there was, years ago. Guess not?

Awesome. Thanks for the info and video. That's about what I was thinking.

Re: Any drum builders or customisers?

Awesome, thanks for the help!

The table saw has a fence and all the other bits with it still, so I figured I'd use that to my advantage to keep the cut straight while spinning the shell around. ...

Re: Pretty frustrated with adjusting to an acoustic kit

It's a technique thing, inherent in the difference between the two physical surfaces you're striking. Whenever I've had to play e-kits, I had to consciously play the bass drum different to avoid...

Any drum builders or customisers?

I picked up a 1.5hp Craftsman router and aluminium table today, for $30, so I can finally cut bearing edges properly! (Once I get bits.)

I also have a table saw my neighbour gave me a while back....

Re: Poll: do you double bass?

#6
If I can find a way to tastefully throw it in there, depending on the music, I will. Some music requires it. Sometimes it's just a nice, quick little accent.

Re: Plasti-Dip - Ludwig Rockers

I cringed reading the title because I've seen what people do to their cars with this crap. You pulled off a good look though.

Re: More creative drumming with a cape on?

Should I use a proportionately larger cape when playing my double bass kit than I do when playing my single bass kit? Or do the laws of "less is more" apply to capes as well?

Also, what is the...

Re: Insulting a member on the bandstand

Unless there's more to the OP's story than we realize, the bass player sounds like he was there for his own self gratification. I'm assuming that when you signalled for him to speed up, it was a...

Re: If you could research any drummer...

Interesting question. I don't know if there's one guy I'd pick to learn so much about. I like to take bits and pieces from several things and put them together.
I'll pick Stewart Copeland. I have...

Re: Open Mic Nights - How To?

I've done two open mic nights. It's best to ask questions where it's being hosted.

One I had to bring my gear. The whole band did. It was a very diverse open mic night. Dancing, comedy,...

Re: Mapex Armoury

If they have the finish you want at the price you want to pay, go for it. Having the ease of mind about a warranty is always nice. I've had several different Mapex kits. The quality is great and...

Re: Cutting down drums

Nice work!
I've been wanting to cut my 22x18" Meridian basses down by 4", because I had a 22x14" before, but I'm scared I won't like it. Also, I already have 22x18" bags. Haha!

Re: What happened to the resonance?

No, those shouldn't make a difference. Higher on the L-rod is supposed to be the best.

Re: combining drumming and visual arts

I'm not into it, but I have seen it (or something similar) down in Miami, and I think up in West Palm once too. I fully admit that I don't understand it, but it can be very entertaining. I guess I...

Re: How do you feel the day after a gig?

The lack of sleep, or being thrown off a sleep schedule, will usually do that to me. That's even if I'm not doing anything physical during that time.

Re: Need help identifying old Mapex kit

Which snare is that? I don't remember an 8x14... but I've only been interested in larger snares for a year or so.

I have it on their server since that's how they deal with attaching pictures. ...

Re: Mapex Pro M vs Mapex Saturn

If it's a practice kit, I'd get the closest configuration to your gigging kit as possible. The Saturn is a pro level kit, so if something happened to your DW they can fill in seamlessly. The Pro M...

Re: Do we really need expensive drums?

All things equal (heads, tuning, drummer abilities and such), I think the only time a "nicer" drum matters is when you have extremely good recording equipment and one hell of a sound guy. Same thing...

Re: what's the effect of central lugs on the sound

Supposedly it does affect the resonance being centered. I had a vintage kit with centrally located lug screws and that tom sang more than any other drum I've heard, which could be because of several...
