Re: Practise Exercises with have Benefited your Playing the Most

Four years ago I began with the following:

Joe Morello's 'Killer Exercise': singles, doubles, paradiddles
Stick Control

Re: Advice on timing please

When I was starting out I would play the song in my stereo and tap along, hands on thighs, foot tapping on the floor. Now I would use my practice pads, but same idea.

Is the 'first to arrive, last to leave' and clearly working harder than everyone else in the band cool? I get to the gig two hours early, while our singer arrives ten minutes before showtime and...

Re: In praise of the hi-hats

Totally agree...I explain to non-drummers that it's the only thing on the kit you play with your hands and feet at the same time (at least it is on my standard, non-monster kit). The level of...

Re: Why did you start drumming?

I got my first drum kit at age 15 (19 years ago at this point), but I had been air drumming and playing on homemade 'pot and pan' set-ups since I was 11 years old. Both my father and older cousin...
