b/ Price

normally very important, but I came up on some extra money and so I splurged on my kit. Sounds...

Re: 16" Bass Drum Tuning

I never subscribed to the "just above a wrinkle" bit either. that may work for folks who tap their bass drums and have really nice mics, but when i need that thump to be heard in the back of a...

Re: Breaking Sticks-Suggestions?

i find that they last a lot longer if i avoid hitting the snare as hard as i can with the rimshot bit (hitting the rim/snare head), but it's hard because i like that crack. otherwise, i just move to...

Re: Bass drum heads, muffling, etc.

Yea, the only kit Iíve ever played where the stock heads sounded really, really good was the Mapex Saturn. Most kits come with sub-par crappy heads. A new batter head will do wonders for the sound,...

Re: What brands have their own "sound"?

Sure seems that way to me. I can spot a Pearl Export series almost uncannily, without looking at it. My Mapex, on the other hand, has its own sound. Nothing in the music store sounded close to it,...
