I like it because you can adjust both the width and length to make it snug around a mixer, laptop, etc. And yeah, pretty easy to integrate it with other things.

I use one of these http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GEMS (just the top part attached to a stand) for my 12 channel mixer, but it might be a little large for you.

Right on Larry. It's a horrible experience to be on the gig thinking that you're killing it and then later, listening to the recording and realizing that yeah, you KILLED it alright, crapped all over...
