Re: Dave King's Rational Funk ~ thoughts? opinions? comments?

I love how he says "the point is, is:"
Not that there ever is one :)

Re: Open handed drummers unite

Yep, my case, but there is no free lunch, I now have a weak hi hat :) back to stick control.

Anyway it's one of many ways to Rome and certainly not a religion.

Re: Heel up - arrrgh!

So you have a teacher. And you watched tons of videos and spent hours trying unsuccessfully. Now you just want to know in 2 or 3 words what the secret is. :)

OK let me try. This may or may not...

Re: Dave King's Rational Funk ~ thoughts? opinions? comments?

This is it. I just threw 85 Jared Falk dvd's out of the window.
I can't get enough of these drum/life lessons. And industry secrets.

Re: Open handed drummers unite

After a year of absence on this forum (I also stopped playing batucada) Iím back converted to open handed. My left hand hi hat technique still needs tons of work but it feels much better to play this...

Re: So that didn't end well

I think he had smoked or sniffed something nasty. Rehearsing in the early morning should solve that problem.

Re: Are We Responsible for the Increased Cost of Snare Drums?

I'm cynical enough to believe that the opposite is just as true:
Introduce a new drum at an insanely high price and if it sounds more or less decent it becomes legendary.
A cool website, a few...

Re: Are We Responsible for the Increased Cost of Snare Drums?

There is not much competition between on line shops in Europe. In France for drummers there is thomann.fr and baguetterie.fr and the rest doesn't offer all that much.

Not many Europeans will shop...

Re: How do you feel about the sax?

I love baritone sax. Size does matter.
Just that little "poh-hop" at the right place just makes me all oooh and aaah.

Re: Online Piracy Finally In the Crosshairs

You're swimming against the stream. Against progress. Information can now be reproduced at virtually zero cost. Everyone wants it. You won't stop it.

It's a new paradigm for those whose business...

It's a regular 20" K, look no further :)
My wife is a hoarder but not as terrible as her dad. I can create a whole subforum about his house but I won't...
As far as drumming gear is concerned, if I...

Re: Cheap vs expensive kits

Some people try to rationalize the irrational human mind :)
My theory is, a kit (or anything) can only make you thoroughly happy if you paid a shit lot of money for it. Always buy the kit you can't...

Re: Open handed - what about this?

I think I know what you mean in spite of 2 translations :). It's just a matter of buying a second pair of hats or not. For sake of simplicity I wanted to just change it to the right side but I have...

Re: Can I drum with backing tracks and not lose my hearing?

No ringing means you HAVE DAMAGED your hearing.
You ARE DAMAGING your hearing when you still think all goes well and play unprotected.

Jeez man don't take the risk, there are SO many who regret...

Re: Can I drum with backing tracks and not lose my hearing?

Try the Vic Firth drummer headphones. They isolate well and are inexpensive.

Open handed - what about this?

Tired of having my left arm locked up under the right one when playing hi hat. Or maybe just wanting to innovate.
Too lazy/old/stupid to learn to play the other way around i.e. classical open...

Re: Is Rhythm Elastic.

Lots of Italian words for tempo changes.

Re: gear4music awful service

Naah. In that case they should be honest on their site and say we have so much stuff and we're so unorganized, we don't know what's going on.
First debit the card then take forever to deliver, I...

Re: Explosion at Manchester Concert

It is natural. Just as natural as the obvious fact that the parents of the kids that got killed are sadder and angrier than anyone else.

It's natural, and at the same time very sad that the...

Re: Explosion at Manchester Concert

This will never stop until people understand that it is pointless to blow oneself up, and other people along with it, because of one's erratic and retarded stupid little convictions.
You can throw...

Re: Bandmate comparing me to other drummer

Hi drummer97,
I think she likes you. But I can't give any guarantees, because at your age I always guessed wrong and there is no reason why I would have got any better at this 25 years later.
Tell...
