Funny,

Larry essentially said the same thing that I said,

Re: screwed up my first gig

You are on the road to being a great drummer.

The fact that you are aware of your mistakes and you care about them means you have the right attitude and you will become a great musician.

Re: DW nomenclature: Sound portal(s)

I think I like this idea. Might be interesting to try it on a metal snare.

Re: Help With Yamaha Drum Part

Thank you for the offer.
Now that I know the exact length of the hex rod I can see if the longer rod will help improve my setup ergonomics.
I will be trying out some tom position ideas in the...

Re: Left hand: uneven strikes & poor grip. Advice needed

Aspernator:
Welcome to the forum.

I'm going to take a wild guess here. You are probably a carpenter or a mechanic. And for years you have been using your right hand to do most of your life's...

Re: Jim Fernandez

Oh gosh, I'm sorry.

No it is not Bennie Goodman.

This guy was a jazz drummer, singer and bandleader in the 40's.

(Let me know if you have given up and I will tell you who he was.)

Re: Something strange is happening

Here’s what is happening to you.

Some years ago a friend of mine purchased a new 1964 VW Beetle. He kept telling his friends and neighbors that he was going to get fantastic gas mileage on it.

Re: How LOUD were the classic rock bands??

Very good.

You make a great point here. A larger diameter bass drum will give you a lower tone. And if you are careful about the depth and keep it shallow like 14" you won't be trying to move so...

I also remember that temporary loss of hearing after the concert. (It's still temporarily lost)
I remember some...

Re: Tension

I’ll bet that 99% of those that drink or take drugs when they play would say that they play the drums just fine when they have “had a little something to relax”.

Re: Using Left Foot Hi-Hat, Does It Help Improve Time?

What is the best way to walk smoothly and with rhythm ?

Using two legs, or using one leg?

Playing the drums is a full body exercise.

Re: Tension

Very interesting topic!

Yes, tension can be a bad thing.

On the other hand, maybe some tension is good. I am very relaxed and fluid when I play drums. I think that it is good for my playing,...

You were wondering what kind of drum teacher we had a long long time ago.
Here's one from thousands of years ago.
