Re: George Way Drum Kits?

These drums peaked my interest last year when Peter Erskine used them for his dates in Seattle. Don't know what the drums were but I think the snare was COB.

Re: The big one!

Simon always gets a great sound. Just imagine what he would sound like behind a set of Guru's. :-)

Re: Going back in time

Yes you are probably right. My amp is actually a Classe' solid state and fortunately for my 401k I changed my hobby back to buying drums. It's a lot cheaper and a hell of a lot more fun :-). I would...

Re: The Supra returns ;)

No idea about the Sensitone, I was just stirring the pot. I sold my Starclassic Aluminum because it was so similar to my Supra. A tad drier but I like the Supra ever so slightly more. The Tama was...

Re: Buddy Rich - Left-handed Clutch?

When the hats are open and struck the left hand is still touching and muting the bottom hat. Closing it with you hand also makes a slightly mellower sound.

Re: Buddy Rich - Left-handed Clutch?

I think it makes a different sound by slightly muting instead of relying and the foot to mute. He also uses the left stick to stroke the bottom of the hats while the thumb rests on top.

I'm thinking about getting the private drum solo with a bit of Lars mixed with Max and a twist of Tony.

Re: Ultimate Play Alongs feat. Jojo Mayer

As a bit of drumless play along junkie, I am very intrigued with the quality of musicians involved with this project. What is also cool is the ability to slow down and loop the tracks. You can also...

Congratulations on the Renowns! Those are really great drums. If you like the the 7x13 Black Magic snare you might also like the 7x13 Pork Pie brass patina. It's just over $100 used on Guitar Centers...

Re: DW Collectors Snare Suggestions?

When ever I buy a snare without hearing it first, I always buy used. That just takes away some of the risk of it not being exactly what you want.
Nothing against Collectors maple snares but they...

Re: Pearl Masters Custom Maple

$700 is a fair price if the sizes are not odd and if they are not beat up. I would say that badge looks the same as my mmx snare. You can tell for sure by counting the ply's.

Re: Pearl Masters Custom Maple

MMX are great shells. I have a 5x14 mmx snare that is to die for.
I would be looking for overall signs of abuse and for rust and pitting of the hardware. If the heads are clear you can look for...

Re: Recommendation for snare and hi-hat.

Looks like you have done your homework. Those are all nice snares so it's really your preference and maybe the type of music. Surprisingly those Meinl hats sounded pretty good in the video. No clue...
