Re: Sonor Select Force Jungle vs. PDP Concept Maple experience

Glad to hear you're liking it. Can I take credit for the purchase? haha

I found much the same with mine. The soundguy Wed night hated the kick. I solved the issue with a 4!! inch port, a Weckl...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Thanks kwa. It should be a great time. It's a United Way event.

And it just got better thanks to the kind and gentle FedEx lady!

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

I decided to try a PS3 clear for the batter. Since these are my batter heads of choice on the Keystone, this head will be used either way.

It has a much smaller underlay ring, which I correctly...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

That kit looks great in maple! They are sweet.

I made one mistake in a reply about the tom mount. It is in fact bolted through the shell on the rubber 3rd point. I never even noticed. My...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Be sure to post pics!

I just bought the 5X12 Martini snare for this kit. Looks like one of the 'superstores' had sold a Martini sans the snare so I scooped it up for a song. It's just a plain...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

In my gig report, I mentioned it was too boomy. So I ordered 2" ports installed one last night. It seemed to help. I play tonight outside, so I'm anxious to see how it goes.

I'll report back...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Just resting. It's a very rigid mount. It's like a DW STM but reminds me more of the Ayotte mount behind the lug. This little drum just sings so I know Sonor got it right.

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Live report: It worked great. The toms are fantastic. I need a 5X12 snare.
The bass drum was too boomy so I'll need to port it. I'm going to try a 2" port and see if that tames it some. We used our...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Single ply Remo Sonor UT Chinese heads with a stripe and light felt muffling around the edges. The 'bass' drum heads have a very wide underlay and feel 2 ply but I think they're just 14mil or...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

I got it at 9:04 this morning. Unboxed and set up in about 20 minutes.

It's soooo tiny. I love it. The finish is far, far better with the naked eye. The hardware is typical German; solid and well...

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Yeah, I will. The sale confirmation came through right away. The tracking info came through late last night. So far, so good.

Re: Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

Tracking shows I should have it tomorrow morning. If this is true, I would have to give AMS 5 gold stars.

Now the question is whether I should take it to my gig tomorrow night.

Stoopid drum deal of the day: Sonor Jungle

I've been >< this close to pulling the trigger on a Safari kit for many years and lately I've decided that having this option for acoustic gigs or low volume is finally viable. This would coincide...

Re: Tricks for faster set up

They are the Mic Eze-type clips with Audix D series. They pop off together and each goes into its own pouch (that comes with the mics).

I use the top pull-out tray of my old trap case for mics and...

Kelly Shu helps A LOT!

Clip on mics that I also just remove and put in the pouch, clip and all.

Old fashioned trap case with tray for mics, cables, extra heads and percussion. I keep my IEM in...

Re: Tricks for faster set up

I've been leaving my clutch on for 18 years of gigging and haven't had a problem. Same set of hats too. My bag has enough stretch that it works. Have been thinking about the DW quick release clutch,...

Re: New Pearl masters MCX = Horrible!

That was one of my Collector's kits. It's long gone too. It and the others were short stacks.
I do find to this day, it take a while to seat the heads and get them locked in. Just as you have...

Re: New Pearl masters MCX = Horrible!

I waited 6 months for them to come in from the NAMM showing. Got a complete set of satin hardware with it. I was a music store employee so I got a ridiculous deal on all of it. Just glad to walk...

Re: New Pearl masters MCX = Horrible!

It was the whole kit. Even the bass drum was lifeless. I came to realize that re-rings, sharp edges, diecast hoops and sustain-killing Opti's were all factors.

At the time I had a DW Collectors in...

Re: New Pearl masters MCX = Horrible!

OP, I could have written that word for word in 2002 when I received my dream of an MMX in Ocean Sparkle/satin (1 of 20) in 10/12/14/22.

It got so bad for me that I replaced the Opti's with RIMS...

Re: Todd Sucherman here!

I'll take this chance to thank Todd and relay another story.

Years ago, you came to Titletown WI for a drum clinic. Naturally, I had to come and see you in person (sans Styx of course).

Your...

Re: Why do the wooden hoops on this snare have flat straight sections?

I didn't notice on first glance that the snares run opposite the flat side. Huh?

Re: Why do the wooden hoops on this snare have flat straight sections?

Those should be located at the strainer and buttplate as they allow clearance for the throwoff action. Looks like an install fail.
