Re: 8x14" Maple Snare?

Wonderful looking sparkle kit, mate.

I've always toyed with the idea of a deeper snare, this is intruiging.

Re: Snare wires?

I bought a 42-strand last year, and it sounds great on my 6.5x14 Supra. The snare side is tuned quite tightly, the batter side is much looser. It sounds really nice and fat, with the perfect amount...

Re: When was the last time you made a fool of yourself behind the kit (or other percussion)?

Every time I sit down to play :)

But for real, the last time was at a little gig around chirstmas. I had a 16 bar drum solo, fun little thing with some nice licks, wouldn't you know, the first bar...

Re: Mufflers or No mufflers?

I like to have internal mufflers on my Ludwig snare drums, but on the Ludwig toms I find they just sound like crap. Plus they rattle on the toms, so if I were you, I wouldn't get them on toms, and if...

Re: Lively snare?

Try out an Ambassador, G1, or if you're feeling like you want a ton of tone: a Diplomat.
Those heads are thinner, and more open sounding. Lots of people find they have more tone, resonance and...

Re: Do you all tune your snare reso heads tighter than the batter?

I prefer my resonant snare heads to be tuned quite high because it increases the snare response and sensitivity on my drums, I find.

Re: How do people get such big kits?

You're going to want to do yourself a favor, take those heads off, take the tape off, wipe them with a wet towel, dry them and tune them up right.
Take a look at these videos, you should be able to...

Re: How do people get such big kits?

Most people with big expensive kits have jobs and have saved up enough money for them.

Or they're endorsed.

Or they find really, really excellent deals.

But, to get big kits, you need money,...

Re: Ludwig Snare ID help

Awesome!! That'd be an LM400!

I think I'd probably be the only guy on here who's not jealous of the price... I got a 6.5 for free a few months back... ;)

Re: Acrylic and Wood Drums!!!

I've heard a few acrylic kits, and I find they sound much more brittle than wood drums.
Less warmth, more of a sharp, bright sound, to my ear. It'd work great if you wanted lots of cut, I'd think.
