John Bonham

Ok, i'm about to put my neck on the line. I'd like to know if there is anyone who thinks John Bonham is over rated. What do you really think? Is he only a drum god because he is dead?
Would he be as...

Re: Premier Drums

ive got a premier series birch classic, its one of the best sounding kits ive played, the tone is beautiful, and it feels really nice to play, it makes me wonder why more people don't buy them.

Re: DW? why are they so great?

its not that i dont like DW, i just think they are over rated, over priced and hyped up, it seems to be more of a brand hype thing, thats just how i see it.

Re: question for birch users

I have a Yammie recording custom and it is LOUD. the bass drum doesn't thunder, but it has heaps of attack and sounds good wit the right tuning (tuned higher is better imo), and right heads. but the...

Re: 20 x 16 Bass Drum Sound

from my experience if you tune the bass drum too low and have thick heads, you can actually lose bottom end and alot of tone, i tune my kicks a bit higher so they are resonating and you can hear the...

Re: Sleishman Total Suspension System Drums

They are definately awesome drums but i'm just not convinced with the supension system. I actually saw the screaming jets play the other night, their drummer Mickl Sayers plays a sleishman, it...

Re: Sleishman Total Suspension System Drums

I personally, don't necessarily see the advantages in having an isolated drum system like Sleishman, in order to get more sustain out of a drum. In my opinion and taste, too much sustain can be very...

Re: Making a Bass drum snappy

the only way you're gonna get that sound is with good mics and loads of EQ, compression, processing etc. you won't get that sound acoustically in a practice room

Re: Yamaha tom with YESS mount - will it fit into a standard bag?

I use Protection Racket Nutcase bags for my yammie and they fit no worries at all. you might find the 22" a bit tight around your bass drum but it will go on. a 20" kick fits much better into a 22 bag

Re: DDrum Dominion or PDP 805?

hey mate. i would personally go for the Ddrum kit. I have owned a PDP kit before with a 24" kick and to me it seemed more like a toy set. the 24" kick was pretty disappointing, very dead sounding,...

Re: My new Yamaha Maple Absolute

Yeah the whole kit was a custom order because of the odd size floor toms and virgin bass but it didnt take that long, about 15 weeks.

Re: Yamaha oak custom vs. maple custom

the maple custom has thicker shells than the maple absolute, which would probably make it a bit louder. i think the toms are 7 ply and the bass drum is 10 ply. the absolute has 6 ply toms and 7 ply...
