Re: What makes an adorable drummer?

That pretty well sums up my answer as well

Unless you mean adorable in the sens of a drummer who you adore for their playing or makes a rock drummer desirable to have in a band.

Re: Damage control: take care of your stuff

IF it's a true concert tom there is no bearing edge on the bottom to be damaged.

Re: Getting ear impressions for IEM

I have a set of Alclair CMVK (5 driver) and absolutely love them. Think it was about 4 weeks total from when I sent the impression to when they showed up on my door step. Absolutely fantastic...

Re: Woeful suckfest :(

That just sucks. Why did they cut you like that, was there a reason given. Hopefully they didn't cut your pay (I have a feeling you guys have a pretty good contract) Have you spoken with whoever...

Re: Impact pain

Sounds like you need to make a visit to your doctor again or maybe a hand specialist. Appears to be more going on here then just drumming related.

Re: When is a good time to quit a band?

The other thing is I've heard you refer to them as jam sessions. Is anyone in the band organizing the rehearsal, "we need to nail these 5 songs next time we get together" or is it a come...

Re: Wrist pain, can someone help me understand why?

How long have you been using the L-80's and mutes on the drums?

I'd honestly take a few days off and get in with your doctor to get checked out. Only way you'll really know what's going on.

Re: Is Drum inventory low where you live?

Have a GC and Sam Ash about 15-20 min away. Went in both for the first time in a few months at the end of March and the selection was ebismal. Hardly any kits at all and like you said were pretty...

If you want to humble yourself to improve

Record yourself playing along to pre recorded songs and see how you line up. Don't alter the speeds of either just give it an honest go and listen back. Been a very long time since i've gone note...

Re: Gregg Bisonette Clinic

Sounds like an awesome day! Would love to see a clinic with him, love watching his instructional vids on youtube. Seems genunie which is hard to find sometimes with "famous" musicians. Congrats...

Re: Picking out drum parts (especially kick) by ear

Completely agree with both responses above. Other thing you can do is boost the bass on the device you are using, that will help a little along with some quality ear buds or headphone. The buds...

Re: I'm surprised there are no NEW road worn drums like guitars

Yep the DW R30 was $30,000 that's a VERY limited market you are going to sell to there, considering you can buy a brand new car for that or a killer down payment on a house. As far as the road worn...

That right there is not a good representation of how everyone sounds especially if you have it by the hi hat, naturally the hi hat will dominate the sound if that's the closest thing to the mic. If...

Re: Kick Drum miking help please?

Yep the audix line is just tuned right for drums. I have a full DP set and they all sound great! Also have a full DP set on the kit I play at church.

Re: Kick Drum miking help please?

Great advice there. Where are you placing the mic and how are the heads tuned? Try tuning them just above wrinkle (JAW tuning). Loosen all the lugs, put your hand in the middle of the head and push...

Re: The Mid Range Kits

True the cymbals feel different but there's nothing learned you can't apply to that Roland kit. I've played on one multiple times. The smaller pads are actually a benefit, makes you play more...

Re: The Mid Range Kits

Feel may be different but it all translates over regardless of what you are playing. Doesn't matter if it's an e-kit, practice pads, pots and pans, pillows it all translates. Pretty sure there are...

Re: Soundproofing my cave

I think before I put more money in I'd setup a small kit in the room and see where you really stand on sound transmission outside of the room

Re: Adjusting to bigger kick size, raising height

Bo and Gruntersdad nailed it. One reason I don't like larger bass drums is placement of my toms and a 24 seems harder to play, at least to me. Just have to experiment with the height of your tom,...

Re: Snare reso

Yep pretty much what everyone else said, sympathetic snare buzz. Very common and something that Roland added to their v-drums a number of years ago because it sounded odd without it. Like Odd said...
