Re: Two roll exercises for you

Those exercises are excellent, thank you very much Bo! They come very welcomed, I'm practicing Dave Dicenso's Universal Rhythms and there's out loud counting of diddles which I've had troubles with....

Re: Old videos like this make me think drumming has gotten less showy over time

- Obscene mix of strings and amplified instruments. In a...

Re: Mark Guiliana

I don't get this cat, nor the people who enjoy his playing. Extremely verbose, spastic groove that doesn't feel good at all, random phrases that make little sense, always on top of the beat. He...

Re: OT - Band(s) I don't "get"

Jane's Addiction is a terrible band. Mainly because Dave Navarro is a tasteless guitarist with a style both boring and busy, who enables his bandmates into indulging in fluff over substance. ...

Re: Hardcore Drumming

One good way to practice at improving bass drum precision when playing d-beat is to play 8th notes on the floor tom, it will interlock with the bass drum pattern and create a rolling sound....

Re: Is jazz listening to its listeners?

What people call jazz nowadays is mostly "contemporary improvisational savant music". It has nothing to do with jazz anymore, which is a swing-based dance music with somewhat catchy melodies that...

Re: Drumming fashion what happened to pshp pshp pshp?

HH barks (with BD as support) and rimshots are the meat and potatoes of drumming imo

Re: All About D-Beat

Forgot to mention that amongst the old two-beat/train gospel beats, there's a kick drum pattern that is exactly that of the d-beat, albeit that pattern is only played on the second half of the...

Re: All About D-Beat

It's really a great beat and absolutely addictive. I'd like to be able to play it in the 200-210 bpm zone consistently and with power, but above 180 it becomes really difficult. I play standard 1234...
