Re: How tense are you when you play?

I used to be very nervous, but it has eased the more I've played.
The last gig we had was at my favourite venue, where I've seen many many bands play, & always dreamed of playing. I was probably the...

Re: Would You Match A Kit To Fit An Audition?

TBH, if it was an audition for a rock band I wouldn't turn up with a cocktail kit in baby pink with yellow stars. Similarly if it was a jazz audition I wouldn't fetch a kit with 8 toms in a deep...

Re: Drummer- the only musician that can't mess up?

I sort of agree with the premise, but I think an audience will notice other band members messing up too. It's just that a messed up drum part is more dramatic than a wrong chord or off-key note.

Re: Drum fads: Past, present...and future?

I have a cowbell & it always gets a round of applause when I play it!

Back to fads:
The 5000+ different signature drumsticks. Come on! That extra 0.0001mm in length doesn't really make so much...

Re: Reasonable Price for Used Mapex Armory

How used is the kit? It makes a difference.
Where do you live? Any music stores selling them locally?
Is this selling/buying in person or online?
Are you selling or buying?

Re: Guru snare competition results!

Very well done to all the winners. Great jobs done judging by the clips posted. I really must try to enter next year if you do it again!

Re: Creating A Logo

Yep. That's exactly what we did. Came up with many ideas which we haven't yet made a final decision on!

Re: Who Here Loves Rock

I love punk. I spent my teenage years listening to & going to punk gigs. I've previously been in 2 punk covers bands & now I'm in a band that plays punk originals. I still go to many punk gigs. Punk...

Re: Sonor essential or Mapex Armory

Hahaha. I have stock heads on my Armory & they sound just grand. I'll probably switch them for the coated Emps/clear Ambos I already have at some point, but there's no rush.

Re: Mid-range drums stock heads comparision and other features

The B&M stores won't disappear, there will just be fewer of them & they'll be bigger so that they can show more lines.
The place I just got my Armory from had loads of kits on display from pretty...

Re: But What To Wear?

We played a gig last year on a bill of mostly "Oi"-type punk bands (Sham 69 were the headliners). We are not of that type, but we are a punk band.
We knew, and were proved right, that ALL the bands...

Re: Mid-range drums stock heads comparision and other features

I bought an Armory kit a couple of weeks ago. Although I have a set of coated Emperors/clear Ambassadors I could throw on, the stock heads sound pretty good at the moment.

I'm sure pretty much all...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Bought a Mapex Armory kit in Photon Blue today (22/16/14/12/10), complete with an Exterminator snare. Looks great & sounds great too, and the snare is a cracker.

Re: Brain Game

This. After a few minutes of trying I could pretty much do a circle & what would pass for a square! I'd guess that with practice it'd be more accurate.

Re: Direct Inguinal Hernia Surgery-drumming life after?

Are you having open surgery or a Laparoscopy? That will make a difference in your recovery too. Generally speaking, you should expect to be fully recovered after about 6-8 weeks.

Re: Is it OK to talk about the movie "Whiplash" yet?

Watched it last night & I enjoyed it. I didn't see it as a "drumming movie" as the story has been done many times before, but usually using some form of US College sports team/hard-ass coach as the...
