Re: Putting together a high mobile kit for an acoustic guitar group

I do something very similar. My little kit consists of;

18x16 Gretsch kick drum,

13" Pearl Omar Akim Sig. snare. Love this snare! Nice warm tone even with soft playing with hotrods.

DW...

Re: DW Frequent Flyer Kit

Now that you have had the kit a bit longer, do you have any other thoughts you can share? I'm really looking hard at one of these now to be used for our small venue traveling gigs.

Thanks rob

Re: The 20" shallower bass drum, not as easy to find as I thought

I don't know if its been mentioned earlier or not but DW has the new Frequent Flyer kit out with a 20x12 kick drum.

Re: I need a bigger car for a bigger kick drum

I drive a Chevy astro van. Plenty of room for a drum kit, wifeys guitar rig and a small powered PA system.

Re: Played drums/worship in a 940 year old Cathedral

That is cool! Nothing remotely close to the age of that Cathedral in this country!

Re: 20" bass drum

Like most posts here, I've had quite a list of 20" kick drums. Mostly higher end shells from Pearl and yamaha. All different wood and sizes.
I don't use any muffling other than a designed head like...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

It does feel like an unfinished shell but Ludwig does claim that there is a satin like (a new process) spray on the shell. How durable? Who knows at this point. I guess Bermuda will know first lol as...

Re: Sold the Spauns

Funny, as l looked at the pics my eyes were drawn fast to the small kit in the back! It must feel strange after using a fairly large kit on a rack to the new kit. At least how the new kit sits in the...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

That's quite the list! I can understand wanting an all Atlas hardware kit but you could save a few dollars and some heft with some other options.

I had a decent pile of DW 9000 and Pearl 2000...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

I never received any sort of rack tom bracket with mine. Fresh out of the factory box too. Didnt bother me though, not to many kits ever did.

Re: Sorry - here's another look at my current tools

Very nice! I've always wanted to try the Pures. I have played on the Reference kit for some time now in different configurations. I love the low tones of the mohagony floor toms. But, not crazy about...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

My thoughts too regarding the spur. I really don't car if its adjustable. I love the sleek new look of this spur, it's really beautifly done. Like you, just shorten it a few....and that's all!

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

Yeah, who knows where the term came from. There is nothing listed on Ludwig's site making this claim.

Another note I just found and this may explain why the 20" kick drum sits higher is because...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

Have you ever pulled a lug off of a 4,000 dollar DW Collectors kit? I have and guess what, there is a plastic sleeve that holds the barrel nut in place. If you loose that sleeve you are SOL.
There...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

I still haven't had the chance to play the new Signets and now looking like a good few weeks before a live gig.

The drums (toms) seam to tune up well. I used some fairly new remo coated...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

I thought the same thing! More work in the packaging process than just completing the shells.
