Re: Risen Drums

Crazy sick. I think the hard part would be during a long gig getting a headache or some epileptic seizure from the thing. The dude was like "I can't stop looking at it, but it's not helping my...

Hey guys

Re: Big sticks

I'd agree here as well. Get a stick that fits your hands well. You'll be better in the long run. With proper technique you'll get the same kind of bounce on almost any kind of surface.

Re: Rank theses drums !!

Just read your last post on the two kits. I'd go with the Gretsch Renowns as well. I like Tama's, but that is a better deal + the Maples have a great sound.

Re: Gretsch Catalina Club jazz kit?

Hey AZ

Responded to your message, but for everyone else, simply yes. The ALL birch shells of the SL are much quiet than the Catalina, and to me they seem much more versatile. Easily could play...

Re: Gretsch Catalina Club jazz kit?

I made the switch to a GMS SL Jazz. The review in this thread:

It sounds absolutely phenomenal. Less sustain as you would suspect from...

Re: arm motion

Pocket is right. He's accenting the singles. But a lot this looks like what some call push-pull method. The downstroke is basically throwing the stick down letting it rebound and then pulling the...

Here is an online link (http://www.music44.com/X/product/PP330-Z) to the book. It's super elementary snare...

Re: Pearl Forum vs Tama Rockstar

As a former Rockstar player, I'm much more keen on them. But the thing I've always like about Tama is their hardware which according to your post you wouldn't really be getting. I think you'll get...

Re: Pork Pie Little Squealer

I played a Little Squealer awhile back, but didn't have all the vent holes like the one here. It punches for sure. Quite a loud snare. Too loud for me, but if you are a rocking/metal/punk player, it'd...

Re: Gettin a floor to sound like this

I dig it. I bet it rings more in that space than on the recording. But I have seen a lot of guys with those big toms tune the reso side up and bring the coated side way down. I tried it once on my...

Re: How to buy a drumkit

I mean this is a lot of opinion, but it's the main reason I've never bought a 3K kit because of the reasons you just explained. I'd by a nice mid-range kit, take care of it + tune it well before...

Re: I might switch to Traditional grip. Any advice?

I wouldn't necessary "switch" but it's great to learn trad. I started with trad + it really helped me stay loose when going back to match. So I would definitely say go for it.

Check out the...

Re: How to buy a drumkit

A lot has to do with the bearing edge, the head + the tuning. You can make a really entry level kit sound well with good tuning. Pro level kits are usually hand crafted, precise (making them easy to...

Nice to know about the mount. It looks like it could be a pain. I do have a rockstar mount I could use in exchange which is flexible.

Re: What is the best set up for a 4 pc. kit?

I play:

18 x 24 Bass
13 x 10 Mounted Tom
16 x 15 Floor Tom
5.5 x 14 Snare

The 13" can be tough to tune but the sound is nice when you get there. There is a nice difference between the toms...
