I noticed that too, I have no idea how he is able to keep his thumb straight like that, I'm not sure if thats an important factor in grip? Should one strive towards that or not.

yea man, okay, Im looking for deals on one rightnow, I've recorded some independence stuff with my mp3 player just to hear if I was playing it right, but it is so unbelievably horrible quality haha

I'm curious about the edirol recorder, we had one at this jam around a camp fire, accoustical guitars, song and djembe and it recorded with sweet quality. I was thinking about investing into one, but...

I developed blisters when I first started playing hard, they went away and came back for a while but lately I havent had any drumming induced blisters or callousing, certainly not cuts or something...

YEa, just playing around will get you nowhere. I know that from personal experience.
I've messed around like that for about 3 yrs too, now I've started to play seriously and I'm seeing much better...

yea Portnoy is so much about the show, if you've ever watched a dvd with the option of showing only him playing: he does a lot of silly little things for pure show, sometimes plays ghost notes...
