I'm sure I will experiment with more tunings. I tried to get the lowest resonating pitch possible, which is what I like best. To do that , I have to begin to bring up the pitch up until the drum...

I think the close mics were a bit too close to the rims. That will tend to pick up more ring and can also overload the mic. More distant mics pic up the full body of the drums but too much room...

Sounds great, in part because with this system we can tighten these way down. Only 4 1/2" deep.

They will sound GREAT....but I'm going to only build one right now. I'm going to store the other shells for another day....and I may re-work them a bit.

After I cleaned it up, it looked better than I thought, so I will skip CNC.

Also recording audio with camcorder is not the best as camcorder has AGC which turns volume down as soon as I strike the drum.....but we can all hear those crickets !! Yes the snare wires ("spring"...

The moongel is a better idea, because it is easy to take off and put back on, but I happened to have some MINI EMADS that I wasn't using. I have never seen or worked with "moongel" .In the old days...

Because I wanted to use a standard tuning key to tune it and not need to carry extra tools. The wrench isn't always needed, just for first setup.
