Re: How to trawl craigslist for deals

I'm in SF, it's not that bad but I use an iPhone app called Newsify. Setup your search in Craigslist (I usually search by subject and anything with a picture within X miles), get the RSS feed link...

Software to chart / notate

Someone wants me to chart drum parts for a bunch of songs, note by note (including fills). I havenít ever used software to notate or chart before, but any suggestions? I was thinking one potentially...

Re: Beat Timing Question

I'll answer the OPs question in a different way... I had the exact same question about 2 years back, asking about being ahead/behind etc.. I dug for materials, watched videos, but it didn't seem to...

Re: Ok, how many of you have "unsuspended" your floor toms?

The maneuverability and stability benefits of legs far outweighed any imperceptible difference of the suspension mount; never looked back once I got them legs on there.

Re: Changing Tom depth

Oh I'm sure a 20" would be better, that right there gives me an extra 2" of clearance. The problem is, how do I get a 20" Mapex Saturn Kick in the same finish from a line that's several generations...

Re: Changing Tom depth

Tom is mounted off-bass drum on it's own stand with ball-joint, so I don't think positionability is the issue. The only way to get the tom lower is to move it further to the left so it's not...

Re: Changing Tom depth

Anyone have any insight on what I can expect sound wise reducing a 12x10 to something like 12x9 or 12x8?

Changing Tom depth

I have a Mapex Saturn gen 3 with 22Ē kick and 12Ē rack Tom. After tons of gigs with it, Iíve decided I need to cut the Tom depth. The 22Ē kick forces my rack Tom to be higher than Iíd like, and itís...

Re: Can't consistently hit max bpms

Good tips on the slow-relaxed warmup approach, I'll give this a try next few gigs! Makes sense with the analogies to other sports..

@bud7h4, I use Murray Spivak's technique, taught by Chad W. on...

Re: Can't consistently hit max bpms

I have a different view on this. I don't work on speed so I can be the fastest out the gate. For me, it's been proven that upping my max bpms over time has made a given lower bpm far much more...

Re: Can't consistently hit max bpms

Good idea... sounds like changing it up is definitely one thing I can do. Taking a break for 2 weeks just isn't gonna happen though, I'm a working dude so that means no rent if I take that long off...

Re: Can't consistently hit max bpms

Hmm... I thought 5 minutes at a given bpm was a long time? But as for the stopping, I am doing that. The warmup is the only thing that progresses from slow -> fast, and that's just to get my limbs...

Can't consistently hit max bpms

I'm having a weird problem... my practice-pad sessions always start out the same way. Slow gradual warm up with singles starting at 150bpm with +5bpm every 30 seconds (until I top out), followed by...

Recommendation for Small Snare Mic

My preferred setup/ergonomics are such that it's almost a physics challenge to get a snare mic in. I've attached a picture of why that is... I strongly prefer having my HH and 2 racks in very tight...

Re: Is it acceptable to audition for multiple groups/bands?

Yeah I disagree as well... *ESPECIALLY* with music. Unlike a lot of other professional careers, the job 'details' with a music gig are extremely vague ahead of time, and more importantly, can be...

Re: Kick Drum miking help please?

Adding something that hasn't come up yet....

In addition to a good mic (which is key), consider internally mounting it. With an 18", you just lose too much sound porting the reso head and you...

Re: Does this sound like a lack of professionalism?

This sort of reminds me of all those craigslist ads that want PRO drummers, with PRO chops, PRO gear, PRO attitude, NO flakes.... and won't pay a dollar, and expect you to chip in for all band fees,...

Re: Essential rudiments to a rock/gospel drummer?

Six stroke rolls compliment paradiddles well for that style.

Re: Great tape to cover blisters

Not going to claim it's the 'source' of your problem, but technique was the answer for me as well and I wish I realized it earlier.

After I upped my game to 3-4 shows/week with 3 hour sets, I...

Any idea on lugs?

Need to know lug size and case size for my Saturn!

I have a 3rd gen Saturn with 22" Kick. Any advice on what type/size of replacement lug bolt I need for the kick? I have one that's bent.

Also, I've read some issues with Soft Kick Bag sizes on the...

How to practice starting off songs

I'm having tempo issues with the start of songs only... the tempo I click in and what I end up playing aren't matching! Sometimes fast, sometimes slow... but once I'm playing, I'm good at holding...

Re: Drums positioned sideways, stage left. Considerations for mix?

100+ people without a sub would sound thin in my opinion.
