Deeps on what I am playing...loud, soft, slow, fast..etc...Softer low volume tends to be forefinger/1st joint, buzz roll forfinger/1st joint...louder fast tend to move to 2nd finger..etc..Denis

More input on this topic...I have recently been working right 16 note grooves. Started at being able to play musically grooves at quarter note equal to 70BPM...6 months later I am at 82BPM perhaps...

To play everything at veryyyyyyy slow tempos(quarter note = 53) at veryyyy low volume! My verbal out loud count is louder than the drums and cymbals. This has given me control, power and solid time....

300 is fast.....I suggest start working with quarter notes 1st at your max tempo. Then restart working 2 and 4 slowly up to speed.
Also make sure your click track is set for half notes not...
