Re: DW Fans testers users, questions for you

So I own a DW Collector's Series kit, among high end kits I own from Tama and Pearl. I also own two, soon to be three DW snares. Bang for the buck? Look elsewhere if that is your goal. DW makes great...

Re: What was the first concert you went to????

Jefferson Starship Freedom at Point Zero tour, circa 1979/1980. The legendary Aynsley Dunbar on the kit. They were terrific but the opening act, Twisted Sister (a club act at the time) stunk.

Re: Lugwig Legacy. How good of a deal is this?

If those drums are in very good condition, truly a 9 as advertised, that's a great deal.

Re: What makes a pro kit?

Big difference between a professional kit and a professional's kit. The two are not always one and the same. I agree with most posts about what makes a pro kit (choice hardwoods, quality hardware,...

Re: Have You Heard of Brady Drums?

Love my Brady 6.5 x 14 wandoo snare and my 7x12 cedar wattle, though the latter took a lot of work to get dialed in right. Brady block drums are very thick, resulting in great projection, quick...

Re: I thought this was strange....

I have a few drums that are quite finicky, perhaps even possessed. The biggest offender is a Joyful Noise soared copper snare. I can spend a half hour with this drum to get it tensioned/tuned to...

Re: Drummers you thought sucked,but...

The older I get the more my perspective changes. I once thought greatness equated to technical proficiency. Not too long ago I felt that Ringo was a mediocre drummer at Best (see what I did there?),...

Re: Drummers you thought sucked,but...

Rich Redmond, drummer for Jason Aldean. Not that I thought he "sucked" but I let his animated gyrations behind the kit prevent me from fully appreciating what a monster player he is. While most of us...

Re: S****y albums done by great bands..

I'll pick on some of my all time favorite bands, as the ones I don't like are far too easy targets:

Rush - Vapor Trails: Short of a couple tracks, this album seems like a mess to me and sounds as...

Re: Help me understand the reason behind dynasonics and DW's new snare mechanism

Steve and John Good can market this contraption as the greatest think to happen to drum modernization since the Mylar drumhead and I'd still have zero interest.

Have to appreciate the creative positioning of that one rack tom. Wish I had come up with it. http://baltimore.craigslist.org/msg/4892026486.html

Re: Sorry - this just had to be posted!

What an exquisite snare drum Andy. Someone is going to be very fortunate indeed to own and play this drum.

Re: in the market for a new kit...

One more vote for Dale's. I've purchased a lot of drums over the years and they're the best. If they stock what you're looking for, or work with the particular manufacturer, I wouldn't hesitate to...

Re: Buck County Drums

Just a day or two ago I saw a thread about this very drum, I believe on Facebook or perhaps another forum. One poster trashed the build concept, which the builder strongly defended. Intuitively, this...

Re: Q Drums Vs. DW

Put themselves above the masses...by what standard? I've heard great things about Q drums but I've heard even more great things about more established custom "builders" and assemblers like SJC,...

Re: Codename: eyesore

Bo, please tell me you didn't part with that stunning Reference kit ... in favor of a Signet kit. That Reference kit was (is?) stunning.

Re: Tell me about this

Great drum if the aesthetics are your thing. Good deal in the end but his original asking price was around the street price of what this drum sold for new.

Overall wood: Guru thin shelled stave
Overall metal: Joyful Noise TKO brass
Overall hybrid: DW/Sabian Vault Edge

There is absolutely no way to avoid subjectivity in a thread like this. I own...
