As of today, I finally upgraded to my first "pro" snare drum, with the purchase of a 13x6 Birdseye Blonde Maple snare. It sounds incredible with just the stock heads on it, but I did buy an Aquarian...

Well, I think I've decided what my new snare is going to be. 14x6.5 Maple... possibly Deep Forest Walnut.

Could anyone tell me the fundamental difference between Maple and Walnut would be?

Iíve never broken a stick, head or cymbal (and I play moderately heavy), so I canít say I hate when those things happen, but I can imagine how much it would suck.
