I read this interesting thread; I've recorded most of the snares I've owned (sadly, I don't have one of my Black Beauty, which I traded for my Hammered Bronze) and I built a playlist on YouTube...

Re: Ludwig rocker brass and Bronze snare drums

I have a newer 6.5x14 hammered bronze Supra, and though I want my 5x14 COB Supra (with tube lugs) to be my main slammer, I keep coming back to the bronze. It's woodier than my 6x13 7ply Maple, and...

Re: Ludwig Legacy Classic - who knows 'em?

Just the Classic; got my eye on a set of legacy's, however. Big, BIG sound... and the snare absolutes kicks butt on anything else I've heard.

Re: Ludwig Gold Triumphal Snare

I wouldn't buy it unless I could play it first. (And, of course, had won the lottery.)

Re: Question: Pearl Session in Birdseye?

Went back to the pawn shop... got them to pull out some of the toms, and then I could see that the birdseye was a wrap... still dang pretty, but not a real veneer. I do have to say that they sure...

Question: Pearl Session in Birdseye?

I was at a local pawn shop and saw a beautiful bass drum on display -- a 22" Pearl Session in birdseye maple. They have the full kit, but I've never seen this model in birdseye. Anyone can help me...
