Re: Do you like the sound of your 16" floor tom? How do you tune it?

Hi Mate,

I can't really offer anything new other than to say I tune similarly to you. I too don't like to use muffling so I have found the best approach for my floor tom is to tune the reso quite...

Re: TAMA/SONOR

I agree that the snare is the weakest part of the kit....but still quite usable for the most part. I am pretty happy with the sound of mine at the moment.......but I am still eying off a nice copper...

Re: making my snare more sensitive

Also, you may want to try tightening the four lugs that surround the snare bed on the snare side and slightly loosening the lugs at 12 and 6 o'clock.

Re: sonor force special edition

Hi Toolhead,

I haven't played any special edition 3005's but I have seen them. As far as I know the changes are only cosmetic so all shell materials etc are the same. If you have played a standard...

Re: Great Kits Around $1000

I hear Sonor Force 2005 and 3005 models are being cleared out at fantastic prices to make way for the '07 lines.

This would be my choice.

Re: YAMAHA STAGE CUSTOM VS. SONOR FORCE 3005

Both are fantasitic sets and you won't get any grief chosing either one.

I was personally in the same boat and decided on the Sonor because:

- all maple shells
- I liked the hardware package...

Re: Tool - what gear does Danny use on stage?

I would recommend buying good quality batter and reso heads and tuning them correctly with top and bottom heads equal and NO dampening

Re: Best kit for the price

I think I was quoted $70 bucks from Mel to Syd from memory.....which i thought was reasonable considering it comes in two decent sized heavy boxes.

Re: Heads up - Deals on Sonor Force 3005

Thanks Dingbat, much appreciated.

Certainly sounds like the logical explanation from a marketing perspective. NA Maple is definately a strong selling point and using the cheaper Asian maple shows...

Re: Best kit for the price

Celereon,

If you are genuinly intereted in going the Sonor route, go to the Drum Power website in Australia and have a look a the prices they are offering. As I said earlier $1799 and $2199 for...

Re: Heads up - Deals on Sonor Force 3005

Her Dingbat,

Can you confirm that the maple is Asian maple? I read somewhere that Sonor confirmed it was North American maple but.............it was on the internet! :P

Dont mean to hijack,...

Re: Best kit for the price

Unless there has been a recent price hike then you wont pay more than $1800. I paid $1750 for mine and I could have got one for $1699 from Drum Power in Melbourne (they ship anywhere in Oz)

Ignore...

Re: Best kit for the price

At the end of the day it is your money and you are the only one affected by the purchase. In my opinion the kits you are looking at are all good kits and will serve you well.

Personally, I am a...

Re: Sonor

I own a 3005 and have not played a 3003 but from what I have read unless you are a seasoned player you would be very hard pressed to hear the difference between the two.

Hardware etc is udentical...

Re: Comments? Go fot the Gretsch Catalina Maple?

Some nice kits for comparison there but I would also recommend that you check out the Sonor Force 2005/3005 (birch/maple) kits as well.....

Re: So is ANYONE capable of drumming?

Interesting point indeed mate but not really sure that I agree.

I believe that there is a difference between basic coordination and rhythm. I think anyone can rope learn their phone number, it's...

Re: So is ANYONE capable of drumming?

FWIW, I believe there are people that will NEVER be able to be as good. Like Nutha Jason said, some people are born rythmically deaf. I believe you can't learn or teach rhythm.....it is just...

That's really interesting. I am not too sure whether you are refering to Maynard or Danny however there is an A Perfect Circle song named Judith which I now assume would be about the above situation...

Re: Dave Grohl

I too am a big fan of Dave Grohlís drumming. I think he is a fantastic example of how important a role a drummer can play in a band. His work on the Foo Fighters first LP and Songs for the Deaf is...
