Hi,
I don`t think that knowing standards is mandatory for jazz players but it of course helps. These tunes became standards for some particlar reason - other jazz players considered they to be great...

I am glad that someone finally put here a thread like this. I find this topic very interesting as I think playing with brushes are more personal than with sticks hence every concious brush...
