I use my renown maple for a combination of punk / hardcore / metalcore with a hint of ska and reggae (yes, a lot of style-combinations :p);

and I must say it works perfectly. Just put some G2's...

well you have several actually with 24 or 26" bassdrums:

gretch catalina club mod rock(26"x16"BD, 14"x6.5"SN, 13"x9"TT, 16"x16"FT, 18"x16"FT)

they aren't wrapped they are lacquered :p
the pacific 805's come in lacquer and wraps and the plain collors are lacquers.

and yes they do sound good!!

ah thanks caddywuumpus that was exactly what I needed!!
I think I'll go for a or 24x18 or 26x16 or maybe even 26 x18
cause that is what I found on a few of the kits I was looking at.

I have a question about the bassdrum sizes.
I'm looking for a bassdrum with a very deep and powerfull kick.
what sizes would be good for that?
should I look for 24 of 26 " or should I go smaller?...

I've heard alot of good things about it by people who have played them.

the gretch is alot more expensive here in belgium... That won't work :p
but as I want to go really loud and deep, aren't the sizes of the tama a little small for that ?
and are the pdp and ddrum...
