Re: Ideas for good 2nd ride to pair with 22" K Light Ride.

Either a 24" Light Ride, and move the 22 to the left, or, and hear me out, a Meinl Byzance Extra Dry Dual Crash Ride. I have a 20 Dual on the left of my 24 LR, and it blends wonderfully.

Re: DW, the Scientology of drum companies?

To me, DW is no better, and no worse than any other drum company. They make fine instruments that sound good, just as all other manufacturers.

I am particularly fond of their Eco X kits though....

Re: What kit do you use?

My main kit that gets used for everything from gigs to home practice is a 6 piece Tama Starclassic maple in 10/12/16/22 with an SLP G-Bubinga and Starphonic Bubinga for the snares.

I have a bunch...

Re: 20" or 22" Double Kick setup

For two kicks, I'd take the 20s, since triggers will definitely be involved in your case. The Tama B/Bs can be tuned to deliver some wicked punch, with sweet bottom end though, so even playing...

Re: What is your drum setup pet peeve?

Angled snare drums. Those drive me crazy. Unless you play traditional grip, then your snare should not be angled *grumble*

Re: Which wood type to go with

Man, all I can tell you on top of what has been said, is to go to a store and hit some drums. With that kind of budget, you won't be displeased with any of the high-end offerings from the mentioned...

Re: What Does Your Name Sound Like as a Drum*Beat?

Yeah this is waaaaay more fun than it should be. What is it they say about simple minds...?

Damn. I love it.

Re: Bob Clearmountain & Matt Chamberlain Recording Drums With 2 Mics

I do agree with you on the two overheads, for sure. I should have specified what I meant by "fewer mics".

Re: Mount smaller tom directly on floor tom

The Ludwig Atlas mount is the only thing I can think of that might get you what you need:

Re: Drumless track in 5/4 to help you practice playing different time signatures

Rather than play to a great drumless track some one took the time to make/post for us?

Thanks for the track, I enjoy it, and your channel!

Re: Bob Clearmountain & Matt Chamberlain Recording Drums With 2 Mics

Thanks for sharing! I always enjoyed recording with fewer mics, something about it just sounds so raw and organic.

Re: Gear hunters

I'm down.

I love looking for the things you mentioned.
Got lucky and found a guy selling a beat up old no name brand kit for $50. Dented brass cymbals, dented heads, missing hardware... the...

Re: Ever weighed your gear?

Never weighed my kit either, but with my whole rack setup, 6 drums, and 14 cymbals... I am curious.

Re: Tama Brass Starphonic...

Do it, you won't regret that decision. They're wicked drums! I love my Starphonic bubinga, and really want to acquire the maple one as well.

Re: Here's an idea!

I agree with a sticky on the subject. Much less clutter, I think, plus then the individual who poses the question has no excuse to NOT search through the thread for answers.

I think the point of...

Re: Gretsch CM1-E826P-SDCB Catalina Maple Satin Dark Cherry Burst 7-Pc Shell Pack w/ Hardware, Thron

As fine as the finish is on that kit, I'm also wondering what your point is?

Re: NDD: New Kit Day Tama Starclassic Performers B/B, No more buyers remorse

Sweet kit. I do love me a Tama B/B.

Is the finish the Black Clouds & Silver Linings, or Blue Nebula Blaze? Can't tell from the pics, but either way, ya done good!

Re: Who Here Loves Rock

Andy, I think the very fact that you mention that the girls are under 30 implies that you're looking a bit beyond that ;)

Re: Haven't we all felt like this at least once?

Yikes, that's just brutal. Highly unprofessional though, and certainly reflects poorly on the singer.

Re: Premier Aviation Spitfire Series

There's a local drum shop close to me that has a Spitfire snare. I believe it's close to a grand in price, and it has a very thick shell. That's the extent of my knowledge on the subject!

Re: dont " buy it now. before i do ,,please "

Oooooooooh, vintage roto roms! I bet they sound 100% identical to every other roto tom in existence. It's just a metal frame...

Does anyone even use roto toms anymore?
