I did the same thing. I was intimidated by riveted cymbals. Now my drums are always wide open and I use larger, thin cymbals. Some with rivets. One gains the element of control as one gets older.

Nope. Nothing wrong with setting up a good positive musical meeting of the minds and surrounding yourself with good players that are easy to work with. It could create more work for the both of you....

KingHarvest here----I read the same thing Tom about the cymbals. I have his playing on the Miles electric stuff and some great swinging on a Steve Kahn album.

I concur wholheartedly. He is very powerful w/o being drumistic. I'm glad he switched from piano to the drums and created such a huge volume of work and brilliant music to learn from and enjoy.
