I use nylon & wood, different sizes and brands.
Regal Tip make a series of sticks that use a specially designed nylon tip that almost simulates the sound of wood.

My Ludwig Venus was not getting any love from me due to Black Beauty purchase

You are right on the money as far as I am concerned; for this gentleman however perhaps 2 overheads and one for the bass and one for the snare.

The Canadian dollar went below 80 cents yesterday; I went in to my local music store and anything brought in from the U.S. was immediately marked up.
Pro-Mark sticks are now $12 plus the 13% tax....
