Re: Article on Neil P. from RATM Tom Commerford

Hang on, so Peart was pissed off that Commerford suggested he rode bicycles to venues? lol. It's a rather amusing scene to picture, Commerford being dragged from the room ranting wildly, Brad Wilk in...

Re: When will the sloppiness end?

An excellent post Drumwild, but I have to disagree with the drum teacher's stance; seeing live music can be just as valuable as rehearsal and study. When else do you get to see how it's done?

Re: Should drum beats sound the same?

Good question. I recommend trying to blend singles doubles and paras as seamlessly as possible as an exercise on pad or snare. Watch that stick heights stay the same.
For musical purposes,...

Re: Playing "For Exposure"

I doubt someone who writes so poorly will be seeing many professional opportunities.

Re: 1 measure lick ideas for solos

Get a reading text like Bellson's Modern Reading in 4/4 - pages of rhythms waiting to be brought to life. Even if you tap a few pages of this on the snare you should start hearing some new melody...

Re: Blurred Lines plagiarism verdict

This kind of thing's been going on forever, although this must be one of the most brazen examples.

Re: 10,000 hours of practice

The Malcolm Gladwell definition states that the 10k involves only dedicated practice ie. hard work, no noodling/jamming etc.
Seems a controversial topic, not least because it's all but impossible...

How do you perceive the difference between the two terms?

Re: 10,000 hours of practice

Agreed that total mastery may not be achievable in a lifetime, mastery certainly is, 10k hours of quality practice should be ample (just very difficult).

Re: 10,000 hours of practice

Not sure i'm on board with this, various articles i've read allude to the fact that he practiced demonically, and that practice was of top quality. 10k hours is quite likely with Vinnie. His...

Re: Kanye West: Opinions, Anybody?

What's suprising in all this is that Beck was nominated and actually won this award, was this album a big hit in the States? That said a great artist and fully deserved. Got to feel sorry for Beyonce...

Re: Question about Groove Essentials 2.0 DVD vs. Book

As I remember the poster comes with the DVD, and the playalong CD comes with the book.

Not sure how valuable the DVD is tbh, it's good to see him play the grooves, but you only see snippets of...

Re: Completely out of touch old fart irrelevant opinion - but,

Hate to say it America, but electronica is one genre best left to the Europeans. 'EDM' is truly appalling; the world is a better place when american kids pick up guitars.

Re: Why your stuff isn't selling

Of course, selling counterfeit goods is fraud, do as you want with criminals. But there's no such thing as outrageous money on a genuine item. If some fool wants to hand over the cash, then so be it....

Re: Why your stuff isn't selling

But why moan about 'over-pricers'? If someone owns something they're perfectly entitled to try and sell it for whatever they want. Of course, it won't sell, it's their waste of time. Nothing more...

Re: Is Dennis Chambers ill?

Strange, rambling statement from Renee Chambers. If you fail to inform the public on something like this concerning a much-loved personality, rumours are inevitable. Could've been handled much better.

Re: Anybody else who doesn't care about the World Cup?

Based on current market value, England are in the top five most valuable. I agree, pretty meaningless.

Re: Anybody else who doesn't care about the World Cup?

Surely this world cup is worth keeping an eye on for the spectacle if nothing else? Football played in its spiritual home? Brazil v Argentina in the final? Should be a classic.
