Re: Ludwig Neusonic

Sigh.

It matters to me, I'm not interested in purchasing an Asian built kit. If I was I would have asked which Chinese or Taiwanese (or wherever it is cheapest to make drums this week) kit do you...

Re: Wanting to build a website for drummers - Any Ideas? Input?

Yes! Honest gear reviews from Real Working Drummers, please. Not just how they sound all EQ'd up in a perfect studio, but real-life, and how the gear holds up to the abuse we put them through gig...

Re: what to do with unwanted cymbals?

This won't help you specifically over in the UK really, but we have a local artist here in SW Florida that makes all sorts of art and jewelry out of old cymbals. Think small pendants, bracelets and...

Re: Ludwig Neusonic

Haven't seen anything new on this thread in a few months. I'm looking at ordering a set Neusonics, possibly this week. Anyone else besides Bermuda and Florida Drum Dude actually played them? Live?...

Re: When would you take a gig for the exposure?

Sensitive subject in my neck of the woods. My band has enough paid gigs that we turn down several shows per month, but there is this hobby community of mostly original bands that continue to play for...

Re: Moongel kills opposite lug!

I've been using these for the past 5 or 6 years. Very happy with them on any of my toms and in any environment.

Re: Is Guitar Center changing?

I was reading this thread the other day so I decided to stop in to my local GC. Hadn't been there in months because of all of the reasons stated above plus I prefer to deal with the locally-owned...

Re: Just got booked to play a Moose Lodge. What to expect?

We typically need to play quieter than usual when we are booked at any of these private fraternal-type organizations (Moose, Elks, Eagles, etc.). I'd let your guitarists know they can leave their...

Re: Counting off the song w/banter

We're playing a new club this Saturday night and got the gig because we don't pollute the stage with endless banter. An employee from this club saw us at another gig and approached us at break and...

Re: Worst expensive snare you've ever owned?

Agreed, the snares that come with the Sonor Bop Kits are crap and cannot be made non-crappy, but they are cheap. I use a mid 70's acrolite with my Sonor Bop kit. It seems to compliment it the best.

Re: NEED HELP WITH SET LIST

We just added "Valerie" from Amy Winehouse. Pretty straight forward song. Ran through it twice at rehearsal, played it out the next night, got a good reaction from the audience, now it's in the set...

Re: Does anyone transport just the drums in a trailer?

No trailer, just a full-size pickup with a cap on it for bigger gigs (I supply the PA and lights, as well as my kit). For smaller gigs where I don't need to bring the lights, mains or subs, I can fit...

Re: Nick Mason - Thoughts

I'm kind of the same opinion as David Gilmour concerning The Final Cut; it's mostly Waters' solo material that wasn't deemed good enough for the Wall or Animals, but they were in such a dysfunctional...

Re: Solo gigs

I saw that guy playing when I was over in Manchester last month. He was pretty good and you're right, no one was paying any attention to him at all. I tossed him a few quid. I pretty much always give...

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/tascam-dr-05-solid-state-recorder

TASCAM DR-05. $100.00. Works great, fits any budget. Get a bigger SD card to record your rehearsals or gigs. Experiment...

Re: Visiting England- looking for Music Club suggestions

Went to quite a few in Manchester: The Castle, Gulliver's and Night and Day Cafe. Saw four local bands at Night and Day, it was a Tuesday night EP release party for one of the groups. They were all...

I just wanted to pop back in here and thank everyone again. We just returned from our trip yesterday and we had a great time. We were able to take in quite a few performances from local bands in both...

Re: Buying new snare but which one?

The only one of those that I can comment on from personal use is the steel Pearl Sensitone. I've owned one for about 5 years, used it as my daily gigger for about 2 years. Good all around drum. A...

Re: Import Duty from UK to USA?

The exchange rate is around $1.40 per British Pound currently so 700 pounds will be around $980.00. Not such a great deal anymore, is it?
