Re: Gretsch Renown - thinking about buying

I stepped up to the Renown’s for my Catalina maples and as good as the cats are the Renown’s are the best. I got my Renown kit for $1142. Five piece in Walnut Satin Burst 8.10,12,16,and 22 inch bass....

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Picked up this Gretsch Gold Series Snare Drum - 6.5" x 14" Brushed Brass to go along with my new Satin Walnut Burst Renown’s. I got the drum for a great price because it was a holdover from last...

Re: New here... Gretsch Renowns- yay or nay

Get the Renown’s. If they are last year’s model they are featuring USA shells and the new Renown’s have a different shell make up. As for the 8 inch tom, I love mine. Set it up and you will to.
Go...

Re: Alternative to Gretsch Renown Kit

I have the Remo Vintage Coated Emperor’s on my Cat Maples and my new Renown’s have Evans G2’s. The Remo head is a more mellow sound and the Evans has a little more bright sound. I believe the coating...

Re: Are 13" toms obsolete?

My first kit featured a 13 inch tom back in 1964 so I would never discount the 13’s. I just sold a kit that had 8,10,12, and 13 along with a 16 inch floor. Currently my two kits have the 8, 10, and...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

Eight lug bass drums tune and stay tuned easier. I have both and the 8 lug hardly ever needs adjustment but the 10 lug often does. Not a big deal but if you think about it on a 22 inch drum the 8...

Re: Vintage Pearl Drumsets

I owned a Pearl kit that came with this mount. Bought in the early to mid 70's. Had a killer steel snare drum.

Re: Have your drumming tastes changed over the years?

(A little different answer, more to the kit sound that has changed)

Well I have had a long drumming life for sure. I started in 1964 on a 4 piece Slingerland kit. In the 60’s and 70’s rock was in...

Re: Sonor snare strainer

No problems with mine. Think about it, do you make a lot of changes to the strainer setting? No. I have had my 3007 for 3 years now and no problems. When you get your head of choice on these drums...

Re: Where are Sonor Force 3007s made?

Greats looking and superb sounding drums. I’ve been playing since 1964 and the Sonor Force 3007 is one of the very best I’ve played and owned.
