Re: Snappy comebacks and other barbs for drummers
I simply stand up, and hand my drumsticks to the person, and tell them that if they think I'm not doing it right/it's too easy then they should show me how to play it better.
When they think it's...

Re: About these 13" snare drums...
My pride and joy is my 13"x5.75" Beech Benny Greb snare. It was my first good snare purchase, and I do not regret it in the slightest. Funnily enough, my first snare was a really cheap Dixon 14"x...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!
Paul Cusick's album is another one featuring Gavin on drums. My copy came the other day, hoping to give it a good play tomorrow.
Hey Gavin, do you know if your cymbal felts (not sure what you...

Re: Your top 5 non-standard additions to a kit
Ribbon crasher would be cool. I have the pearl anarchy block (the one Monica posted) that I usually mount with my foor tom. Already have an LP cyclops tambourine mounted to a foot pedal and a cobra...

Re: Sonor Jungle Snare
Looks like a Yamaha Cajon. Cool idea. I wanted to get a Jungle Snare, but the Aussie dealer had none left. It's on my wish list, but I bought a Russ Miller jingle groove wedge from Memphis Drum shop...

Re: Aquiles Priester of Angra has good taste! :)
If he had more time to play with the band, and wasn't nervous, he would smash Portnoy's drum parts ten times to Sunday. There's a heck of a lot of technical parts in Hangar/Angra/Freakeys stuff...

Re: State the name of an object, then play to it.
Reminds me of Marco Minneman playing to Simpsons quotes, haha.
I should write a song called 'natures deadly stockpile' and just name all of Australia's native killers, lol. (it will be a long song)

Re: Trying something new
Sometimes having the smaller rack tom switched to '2nd tom' position means you can fit it more comfortably over the kick than a larger tom. I didn't have it over for long, cause other guys use the...

Re: Five Albums That Inspired Your Playing
I've been playing for 9 years or so, but only really got into bands, drummers and whatnot for probably the last 5, so sorry if I don't have the 'classics' haha.
Benny Greb - Brass Band Having...

Re: The Old Drummers or the New Drummers?
I have an appreciation for the old drummers, but I am more interested and inspired (that for me, is the keyword here) by the new guys. I can listen to Mick Fleetwood just as easily as Benny Greb and...

Re: Shallow 12" Floor Toms
I have a 13" rack tom (used as a ft) that I want to put on a snare stand (would that work for your tom, Audiotech?). I may use the 12" as a floor tom w/snare stand when I get the 16" kick up and...

Re: Porcupine Tree
The Anesthetize DVD goes through the entirety of FOABP. I actually prefer it to the Studio Version.
Start with Deadwing or In Absentia though imo.

I'm sorry I angered you, it's just that from reading your posts on the first page (AND the entire thread), you come across like a troll just trying to get reactions from the small kit players or just...

Re: Weekend Gig: Which Kit would you take?
So your 15 piece kit (i assume you consider it your main kit?) isn't taken out on the road all the time? When you do take it out, how long does the whole process take to setup?
I understand your...

Re: Weekend Gig: Which Kit would you take?
If you want a little creative experimentation, take either *just* the 14" tom, or, like Karl said, one on either side (I would also suggest 12/L 16/R).
Think of it in terms of having your kit...

Re: Powerful snare hit when playing fast Hi-hat.
I generally favour non-rimshots but I found when I do rimshots under a mic, it sound awesome.
But yeah, rock = rimshot backbeats. Do it, or Chad Smith will ram a holy china up your left nostril.
