Re: RMV drums anyone?
I would love to have an RMV kit. It's a shame they pulled US distribution. My work may take me to Brazil one day, and if that is the case, I'll bring back some RMV kits for all. Muahahahahah! It'd be...

Re: Unique ways of approaching odd time sigs
I haven't gone far into odd time sigs, but I can give you a great example that may help the feeling.
Listen to some Clutch. A lot of their songs are in odd time sigs, and what's great is that...

Re: Dirty Dozen Brass Band
Yea, they are great. I've got their latest (unless they've recently come out with a new one) from last year. Dirty Dozen is heavily gospel influenced. You should give Hot 8 a listen.
My wife and...

Re: Cymbal angle because of weight?!
It happens. Look at the hole in the center of the cymbal, it may not be completely dead center, or there may be key-holing which can contribute to the 'lopsided effect'.

Re: Help recording V-Drums
It sounds to me like a simple problem of gain staging, and understanding the different types of audio connections between gear. Just because the cable fits it doesn't mean what you are plugging into...

Re: Our first LP is done - and I'm disappointed
If your tempo fluctuations change with the band, I wouldn't worry about it. That's just part of the dynamics between multiple musicians. If it was way off, maybe the songs should have been rehearsed...

Re: Recording
Can list what type of mics you have? Not the model names, but the actual design- such as large diaphragm condenser, small diaphragm dynamic, etc. There is a great thread on the Tape Op boards just...

Re: Recording
I thought the same thing. Heh, but I actually took a listen and the recording is pretty good. I'd say you don't need three mics on the kick to get the sound you did, or bother doubling the track....

Re: whats up with Ddrum
Since it is still relatively the beginning of the new year, they are probably trying to clear out old stock to bring in new kits.

Re: 15-year old Premier Kit (to buy or not to)
APK's had long lugs as well. Depends on the year.
$200 is a good deal if it's an APK in good condition. I sold my old one last year for $150, and it was in poor condition with no snare nor...

Re: Help with drum micing or EQ - MP3's inside
If you can, record your drums without compression or EQ unless you know you want to keep that sound in the final mix. It's much easier to apply compression and EQ later in the mix. Just get the best...

Re: Recording
Here's a few need to know tips.
Try different mics, pres, and mic positions around your kit. Changing any of these factors will change the sound you get.
Do a Google search for help with Acid...

Re: Singers and their egos.
Does your guitarist and bassist have more than one guitar/bass? If so, ask if they could keep one guitar/bass in the drop tuning. We had a few songs were in a drop tuning- not drop D, but the whole...

Re: Singers and their egos.
I don't think asking for a key change is out of the question. That's pretty normal for any singer who knows a bit about their own vocal range. Changing key doesn't affect the drum sound, so I...

Re: NAMM 2008 DrummerWorld Pictorial
Finally had a chance to look through this thread. I really like the Tama sets. I also like the rack on the larger Yamaha kit. Last but not least, I want to try some of those Hammerax cymbals.

Re: I have a recording "session" next week!
Sounds fun man. I'm always trying different things with my mics. I'm trying to teach my band mate how to run the pres and DAW so that I don't have to keep running from my kit to the PC.
My band...

Re: Painting and Staining drums
If this is going to be your first time doing any paint or stain work, I would not do it on your new kit. That is the best advice I can give you. Practice on some scrap wood first. Once you've done it...
