Re: Quick doubles on the kick

Hi Bill B:
I am transitioning from a lifetime of playing heel down to more of the heel up style. It's taken quite a while since my lower back muscles weren't engaging in heel down and control is...

Re: Best drum teacher in youtube

For stick technique and rudiments, Bill Bachman.
He doesn't have all his videos for free on YT, but there's a lot. I took his 2 week free course offer to soak up and download his lessons as much as...

Losing a Cymbal Wingnut at Tangelwood Live

Ever happen to you live? Looks like Danny's ride cymbal wing-nut got lost on the floor while changing his cymbal and adjusting the stand in-between songs.
I've been wanting to upgrade my stock ones...

Re: Bill Bachman's Drumworkout.com - One Week Free Access

I signed up and went through all the lessons, just to make sure I didn't miss any before my subscription expired. Then I went back and focused on certain ones for a good while, practicing along with...

Re: Ludwig Club Date for $499

My Club Date SE bass drum seems to fit fine in my 20 x 14 Ahead Armour bag by just folding down the spurs.
I have enough room left over and also to fold down the stock rail mount, although I...

Re: Danny Seraphine

Thank you for posting that. I love to watch Danny play and to see him currently is even more of a treat. He was one of my longest inspirations in drumming from the beginning of hearing him play...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

[quote=AllTheCoolNamesAreTaken;1271178]Yeah Paul F. Tompkins has a great bit on this:

I'm a big jazz fan, but that video was seriously hysterical! The...

Re: Little Jazz Drumset

New Sonor Safari's trade for $389 and used way less than that. They are easily tweaked to give big sounds by simply changing the stock heads. I love my set and use it in small venues. The 16 x 16...

Re: Ah screw it! I'm cheating...

A bona fide endorsement- That would also work for me!
I hope that there's no drummer out there when I play next :)

Re: Ah screw it! I'm cheating...

wow- thanks for posting this.
I wouldn't have ever seen the intro to this classic song if you hadn't pointed this out by example. The YouTube video bmeat linked is a real education for me.
I was...

Re: New Cavern Club Date kit tom mount

No, I can't fold my mount down flat. I saw your prior posts about refitting the wingnut with a smaller version to give it room to flatten out.
I'll try to figure out something since this is...

Re: New Cavern Club Date kit tom mount

The puzzle has ended for me.
I received a call back this afternoon from the Ludwig customer rep.
He said that although they didn't have the Club Dates in their Indiana offices to determine the tom...

I hear that! I'll try a work-around of some type for the cymbal holder.

Re: New Cavern Club Date kit tom mount

Bob:
Thanks for suggesting alternate mounts. Is there any Gibraltar mount that can accommodate both the tom and a ride cymbal? I've noticed you have installed a ride arm on your bass drums, I...

Re: New Cavern Club Date kit tom mount

Thanks for the info.
I must have overestimated how non-movable the mount was.
I tend to be too cautious.
Good to know for future reference.
I'm now a certified expert at unbolting interior shell...

Re: New Cavern Club Date kit tom mount

Tom mount now fixed for a lefty.
This required removing the batter head to access the bolts holding down the rail since the rail won't move and the mount itself can't be repositioned.
I just turned...

Thanks Lz.
I'll try to post pix once I've gotten the rail issue settled and have the new heads installed.

Re: New Cavern Club Date kit tom mount

I'm going to look into this rail removal tomorrow.
Yea, you're correct about being involved with the handling.
I'm always cautious at first on shell work, but its just nuts and bolts for the most...

Re: New Cavern Club Date kit tom mount

Bo:
That would be the easy fix, but I can't get the tom mount to come off the rail.
Even after unscrewing the tom clamps which are on the rail, the mount won't come off so I can't turn it around....

New Cavern Club Date kit tom mount

I've been wanting to try a larger bass drum than my Sonor Safari Kit has (16), but one with 14" depth. I'm keeping the Safari since I have it tweaked just where I like the sound. After shopping...

Re: What are your stories of when people found out you are drummer?

I seem to get the Neal Peart question asked right away, as well.
I haven't figured out one of those snappy comeback answers yet, but I'm working on it...

Re: Guitar Center Musician's Expo

I showed up and wasn't disappointed.

I saw Bermuda near the Sabian booth and was going to say hi, but he didn't stay long, so I just missed him there.
I checked the cymbals for some new...

Re: New Snare for a Non-Drummer

I was at the local GC today, and they finally had a Supralite in stock on a stand, along with a Supraphonic on a stand so I could play them both. I have to say that I liked the Supralite sound...

Sounds like fun and I'd like to learn that.
Could you upload a transcript to read that groove (unless you've done so already).
I find it easier sometimes to read it along with the...
