Re: Pork Pie Vintage Mahogany

Im actually heartbroken with envy. I love Porkpie. When I bought my Catalina club mod kit, I saw a pork pie 4pc at guitar center for like $500 more. This was back when I was single, living in my...

Re: What have you forgotton to take to a gig?

Ive been without my stick bag twice in my drumming carrear. Both times were not my own fault. The most recent one was mostly on my bassist as he packed up our gear, which I was very greatful...

Re: What have you forgotton to take to a gig?

PRetty much, you name it... I forgot it at least once. I played a show about a month ago and took my drums to my parents house and put them in their garage as I dont have nearly enough space for...

Re: Travis Barker Signature Drum Set Review

Especially when finding a case for a 20x22 bass drum is already a pain!

Re: Ringing overtones on a cheap kit

I would agree with almost everyone else in this thread. I used to use those vinyl dampening rings remo makes to control the overtones when I first started playing 14 years ago when I had a beginners...

Re: Settle an argument please

Ive never heard that about extending the life of the snare/bottom head, but I usually disengage the snare when I leave practice just as a common courtesy to the band we share a practice space with so...

Re: Tom mounted on a snare stand.

I did that for a couple of years. The only con IMO is that you have one more piece of hardware to carry around. If you have a nice hardware bag, that would rectify that issue. Its fairly easy to...

Re: Slim Jim Phantom

I cant do it either. Its so awkward. I guess you could specifically set everything high so that it would feel more comfortable, but I cant generate enough power to my right foot. Props to Slim Jim...

Re: Complexes & Tendencies

I feel like I only have a handfull of fills that I do well. I worry that people will catch on to it and be like "he just did that same fill two songs ago". Sometimes I can come up with okay stuff...

Re: How do you kick?

I dont play double, but I always heel up. I feel like I get alot more power and speed that way. Ive always been kind of a heavy footed player and I feel like my thumping kick has kind of been my...

Re: How cool are you?

I live in the Mid Atlantic area and my practice space is pretty comfortable, while im not playing that is. We have an A/C unit in there that is set to 66. However, once I get several songs in, I...

Re: He's 'MY' drummer

I think it depends on the context and the relationship you have with the person. The current group im playing with now, I have alot of respect for the three of them and I feel like we have a good...

Re: Anybody have any gear with sentimental attachement they won't part with?

Im right along the same lines as the rest of you. I came hom from school one day when I was about 15 and there was a Sabian 16" AA crash sitting on my throne, still in the wrapping. My Dad had...

Re: Gretch Catalina 'club mod'?

This is the exact same kit that I have, minus the extra floor tom. These kits are very nice for the price that you pay. I wanted to upgrade my kit a while back, but had limmited funds. This ended...

Re: Colder weather playing

Heres an idea. Try getting one of those little pouch looking things that quarterbacks wear. Its fairly small and snaps around your waist. Theres also a pocket in there where you can put a hand...

Re: Pork Pie snare for $99.00 at MF

I have the same one. I bought it because alot of other drummers had given it very good reviews. I like (not love) it. I feel like I could definitly get a much much better sound/feel out of it, but...

Re: Best Buy has 50% off floor/demo model cymbals

Theres a music dept in the best buy by where I work. Every time I go in there, its usually a bunch of teenagers banging on the ekits creating some God awful noise that barely resembles a beat.

Re: Bare Feet, Socks or Shoes?

I played in socks one time only. I ended up wearing a hole in the right one. Im a pretty heavy footed guy. From that point on, its always in a thin sole sneaker.
