Re: Ok, do your worst ;)

Andy, you don't give yourself enough credit. You looked and sounded perfectly fine, and explained yourself very well. Nice job :)

Re: Beyond - dynamics - spaces

I'll be the first to admit I don't "get" jazz such as this, but I'd be a fool not to recognize the stellar musicianship presented here. Phillips killed it.

Re: Die-cast or not die-cast hoop? Snare advice.

Re: Best Intermediate Drumset?

I'll echo the "buy used" sentiments. You'll have to do a bit of digging, but you'll be able to find a professional kit at or under your $700 budget that will be way nicer than any intermediate kits...

Re: Torn calf muscle

Here's to a speedy and full recovery. I'd definitely set up a bass drum for my left foot if that were the case for me.

Get well soon.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Whoah guys, I have the purchase to end all purchases.

Are you ready?

Mapex Saturn. Bam.

No, seriously, I got a sweet deal on a 13" Mapex Saturn snare. Makes a nice side-snare, and is...

Re: Can you Custom Order Odd Drums from the Big Names

If memory serves, Bermuda has said that Ludwig don't make custom sized drums, even for endorsers (with only a few exceptions).

Again, if memory serves.

Re: Tuning opinion...

I tend to keep my toms tuned up at about a medium-high tension, with the resos a bit looser than my batters. This gives me the perfect amount of sustain and pitch I'm looking for, both behind the...

Re: How sentimental are you about your drums?

Quite.
I spent a long time saving up to buy myself my first real kit, a Tama Starclassic Maple. Since I was in 1st year university at the time, and I had to pay tuition on my own, I don't think I'll...

Re: Revolutionary cymbal choking technique ;)

...What.

The look on his face as he shows it off just kills me.

Re: Mapex Saturn vs Premier Genista

It sounds like a fleshy slap , followed by grunts of pain...? :P

Nice kit choice, Maxes Saturns are some wicked drums. Just watch out for their badges... They've been known to turn otherwise...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Just picked up a 21" Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Ride today. This will basically be my go-to rock ride, for when the 24" K Light won't do.

I was surprised at how damn big the bell is on this cymbal,...

Re: Good Snares for Metal?

+1 on the Acrolite. I'd recommend Puresound Blaster wires, to help give a nice snare-y crack.

Re: Is Tama a Bad Company?

That was an... Interesting read. And rather sad and pathetic, I might add, to see that type of thing go on. It's one thing to know it goes on, but another entirely to read about a situation like...

Re: Shoes with Elastic Bands: Yes or No?

I just stick with socks, myself. Lets me feel the pedal better than with shoes. And I've never had any issues with my toes hitting the chains...
