I have a Ludwig Black Beauty snare, and since I got it about 6 months ago, after playing a couple songs at least one of the lugs (by my left leg) comes loose. As a result, the middle of the snare...

Re: The Best Drum Wrap Ever?

Seeing as the wrap is purely aesthetic, and it's your drum kit, why does it matter what anyone else thinks? Just get something you like...

Re: Would you reccomend any of these (mostly vintage) snares?

Cheers for that link, I'll check that out next time I'm looking for something.
I do find that even when comparing against used prices, buying new off ebay from USA isn't that much more expensive.

Re: Would you reccomend any of these (mostly vintage) snares?

Just ordered the BB.
Funny how I started off with a $3-400 budget and ended up with a $700 drum! Can't wait for it to get here though!

Re: Would you reccomend any of these (mostly vintage) snares?

Its $715 total, delivery included, and comes with a Ludwig 300 Snare stand too, which is good because my old piece of S is falling apart

Hydes Blackburn didn't stock the BB, neither did Allens in...

I know nothing about vintage snare drums, but I bought my kit off this guy and it's treated me real well, so I do like buying off him. Prices and service are great.

Anyway, here is his snare drums...

Re: THE GOOD SNARE THREAD

I can get a Mapex Black Panther Maple (slightly used) for $450 right now, or a Ludwig Black Beauty for around $700

Is the Ludwig worth the extra money?

I play punk and rock mostly

Building my own snare, is it worth it?

I do like my snare, but wouldn't mind a new one.

Is it worth it (money wise) to make your own snare?

Also, I don't have much idea about how many lugs to use, what sort of shell and all that...
