I was in a cover band in the 80s and early 90s and have played many clubs and sports halls in Denmark. We had a reasonable 5kW PA for the time. My experience was the kick disappears in many rooms....

I had a 15 year break from playing drums and started again back in 2004 with a Roland TD20. I got my first acoustic set around 3 years ago and haven't played the elctronic drums much since then....

Use an iPad, phone or any mp3 player. Pan a click track to one side, backing track to the other side. Send the backing track to the bands mixer and get a mix back together with the other instruments...

Gregg Bisonnette is on the surface a natural choice as he has played with Lukather in Ringo Starr's band. There are several youtube movies of Bisonnette playing...

I saw Carlock with Sting some years back. I was on the 3rd row and checking out the drumset before the band came on on stage. What! No splash cymbal -)

Seems Keith Carlock is replacing Simon Phillips in Toto. I don't know the circumstances and if it's a permanent arrangement.
Anyway I think the feel of the band will change somethat and I can't wait...
