Re: Sonor Vs Tama

I can't speak for the Tama, but I can for the Sonor. You will not regret going with the 3005...they are great drums for the money.

Re: Sonor Force 3007

Well I just received an email telling me my 8 and 14 toms are in. Last time I waited 5 months; this took a few weeks. I never thought they would arrive before the kit and hopefully it isn't too far...

Re: Sonor Force 3007

At the L&M store here, there is no price change. They sell for the same price the 3005s did.

Re: Sonor Force 3007

The tom depths have changed as well. They've shaved an inch off them, so now its: 8x7, 10x8, 12x9, etc...
Also, 8" tom now has 5 lugs, 10" now has 6.

Wouldn't you like a set identical to the one used by Gil Moore? :)

Re: sonor force 2005 question

A new 2005 shouldn't cost that much.

Re: sonor force 2005 question

You're best bet would be to try them out yourself, if possible. One's suggestion based on what they like might differ from yours.

Yeah, like you, I always thought 200X series carried the Birch.

Re: sonor force 2005 question

OK, found it. According the The Sonor Museum sight, it describes the Force 200X series as:
Force 2001, 2003 - 9-ply basswood shells;
2005 - 9-ply all birch shell
Matte stain finishes.

Re: sonor force 2005 question

The 2003 is basswood/BIRCH.
The 3003 is basswood/MAPLE.

Edit:
Now hold on. It looks like the 2003 might be maple and the difference between the 2003 and the 3003 is the hardware.

Re: Sonor Vs PDP

Sorry I'm confused...how is a Force 2005 6 years old?

For the record, I have the Force 3005, and I absolutley love it. I wouldn't buy anything else in the same price range.

Re: 9 piece Sonor 3005 kit with full hardware for AUD$3299 <=== Fair pricing?

Wow...dude, I think you overpaid for what you got. I have the same set up, minus the 12" snare, and I paid under 2K Canadian brand new. At the local store here, you could have purchased a 7 pc...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hi Gavin,

what series of Sonor were you using in those pictures on your Drummerworld page (the trumpet and your drum room...I assume they're the same set)? Was that your first kit with Sonor?

It sounded great, as did the rest of the kit. I was speaking with someone who was at the festival for both days and he mentioned that your Sonors were the best sounding set of the weekend.

Do you...

Re: Gavin Harrison here!

Hi Gavin,

when I'm working on the excersises of the 1st book, I tend to use the click as a launch and/or marker, in that it begins to sound like part of the beat, almost like an extra snare shot...
